About One True Shape
One True Shape is a puzzle game about filling a white patch of land with block pieces, leaving no gaps. Pieces can be reused as often as you like but never flipped, and every puzzle has exactly one solution. The developer's first devlog describes 60 gates spread over five seals, each adding its own rules: chains, sealstones and choosing which pieces to use in the Ashen Corridor; gravity, pillars that count pieces and magnets in the Flooded Mine; mirrors, wrap-around edges and outer number clues in the Starlit Abyss; hollows, shadows and N/S magnets in the Frozen Fair; and clock hands, meshed gears and a turning plate in the Stopped Clock Tower. After four seals, an Endless Room of randomly generated puzzles opens. A story frames it: in a winter without end, a boy falls into a bottomless canyon in search of his sister's soul, and a voice tells him to fill the land and break the seals. The developer, Marshall, came up with the idea, the puzzle rules, the level design and the story and gave directions; the page credits the code and the music to Claude and the art to ChatGPT. It is the first game Marshall has made with AI. A free demo plays in the browser on itch.io.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe itch.io page: “Puzzle rules, level design, and story by Marshall. Art made with ChatGPT. Code and music made with Claude.” In the first devlog the developer adds: “I was only partly involved. I came up with the idea and gave directions. The code and music were made with Claude, and the art was made with ChatGPT.” The developer says they had been making small artifacts with Claude for a while before deciding to try a proper game. No model is named.
- DeveloperDevlog of 25 Oct 2026: “I came up with the idea and gave directions. The code and music were made with Claude, and the art was made with ChatGPT.” — itch.io (marshallwaitwhat)
The art was made with ChatGPT, per the itch.io page and the devlog. Not used for code, per the sources.
Marshall designed the puzzle rules, the levels and the story and directed the work; Claude made the code and the music, and ChatGPT the art, per the itch.io page and devlog. The browser build is a single HTML file (observed).

“I was only partly involved. I came up with the idea and gave directions. The code and music were made with Claude, and the art was made with ChatGPT.”Verification notes: Rules, story, credits and AI use from the developer's itch.io page (published 25 Oct 2026, 15:21 UTC; status In development; HTML5; genre Puzzle; AI disclosure ticks AI Assisted, Code, Graphics, Sounds and Text) and the first devlog (25 Oct 2026), both re-read on 6 Nov 2026. The page is titled “One True Shape (demo)”; the full game has no announced release date. The 60 gates, five seals and Endless Room are as the page and devlog describe the game; we did not check how much of it the demo contains. The developer introduces themself as Marshall and writes in the first person but does not say whether anyone else worked on the game, so team size is not recorded. The single-file browser build was checked for calls to AI services and none were found. itch.io shows no rating and no download count. Location is not stated. We did not play the game.
