About Torch Acorn: Into the Dark Burrow
A short grid puzzle game. A little acorn carries the last torch through a dark burrow; every step burns a bit of flame, and the light around you shrinks as it fades. Oil drops top the torch up, old braziers relight it to full and stay lit so the tunnels around them stay bright, and keys open locked doors. You have to reach the exit before the dark closes in. There are ten hand-made burrows, from a short warm-up to The Long Night; a solver checks that each one can be finished, and the best route sets the 3-star mark. Any step can be undone, and progress is saved on the device. The developer, dotorium, says Claude (Anthropic) wrote the code, the ten levels, the solver and the page text, while a person picked the idea, tested and edited it; the graphics are drawn on a canvas by code and the sound effects are made with Web Audio. Free in the browser on itch.io, with keyboard, swipes or an on-screen pad; it was entered in AI Browser Game Jam 5.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission says Claude (Anthropic) wrote the code, the ten levels and the page text, and that a small breadth-first solver, also AI-written, checks that every level can be finished and sets the 3-star fuel mark. The graphics are drawn on a canvas by code and the sound effects are made with Web Audio, so there are no image or audio files. The itch.io page adds that a person picked the idea, tested and edited it. No Claude model or app is named, and no share is given.
- Developeritch.io page: “Code, levels and text were written with Claude (AI); a person picked the idea, tested and edited it. No outside art or sound files.” — itch.io
Made for AI Browser Game Jam 5 (theme: Torch). Claude wrote the game code, the ten levels and the page text, plus a breadth-first solver that proves every level can be finished and sets each level's 3-star fuel mark; a person chose the idea, tested and edited. All graphics are drawn on a canvas by code and the sound effects are synthesized with Web Audio, so the game uses no image or audio files. The browser build is a single small HTML file using Canvas 2D (observed).

“Claude (Anthropic) wrote the code, the 10 levels and the page text.”Verification notes: AI use from the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page and the itch.io page, both re-read on 5 Nov 2026. Both credit Claude with the code; neither gives a share, so no AI code share is recorded. The itch.io AI disclosure ticks Code, Graphics, Sounds and Text. Mechanics, level count and controls from the itch.io page; publication (27 Oct 2026, 23:09 UTC) from the same page. The developer's itch.io account also sells printable worksheets and a pixel font and lists other small acorn-themed games; team size is not stated. The engine is not named; the build is a single HTML file using Canvas 2D (observed), and it makes no calls to AI services. itch.io showed a rating of 1.0 from one rating on 5 Nov 2026 (observed). Jam voting was still open on 5 Nov 2026 (it ends on 7 Nov), so no placement is recorded; the submission page showed 3 jam ratings (observed; not recorded as a metric). The game was not played.
