About Agents! Please?

Agents! Please? is a satirical code-review game. In a company where AI agents write, review and approve the code, you are the last human in the loop. Each shift hands you a ticket: a brief, a diff, and assurances from the coding agent, the reviewer bot and the CI bot that everything is fine. You read the code, run it on inputs you choose, question the coworkers in the ticket's channel (each has a tell, and Maya, the one other human, asks one good question and then goes quiet), and then approve or reject it, either by re-prompting the in-game AI or by fixing the suspect line yourself. The code is a small Python-like language run by the game's own deterministic interpreter, and a judge scores behaviour, so any fix that works counts. The company pays a discretion bonus for not asking questions; the career runs from making a deploy button red to tickets with real consequences, and the ending reads back a ledger of what you knew and when. Between shifts a gig board deals daily contracts, and update 1.5.0 added six office-themed desk games. It plays fully on a controller as well as by keyboard. The developer's Steam AI disclosure says the code was written with AI agents and reviewed by the developer, "That is also the plot", and that the AI coworkers' dialogue and self-portraits were written by AI and their voices are text-to-speech, all reviewed by a human; no AI runs at runtime. By KIB Games, a two-person studio in Langford, Canada. US$4.04 on Steam since 10 Sep 2026, for Windows and, since update 1.3.0 on 13 Sep 2026, native Linux, with a free demo, in 31 languages.

How it was built

Partially verified

The developer's Steam AI disclosure says the game's code was written with AI agents and reviewed by "the last human in that loop, the developer", adding "That is also the plot." The AI coworkers in the game are voiced by text-to-speech, and their dialogue and self-portraits were written by AI on purpose, under human review. It says no AI runs at runtime and everything was prepared and reviewed before shipping. No agent, tool or model is named, and no share of the code is given.

Development approach

Per the Steam disclosure, the code was written with AI agents and reviewed by the developer, and the in-game AI coworkers' lines, portraits and voices were machine-made and reviewed before release; the release post says every line the AI coworkers speak was written by a machine and reviewed by a human. The store page describes a first-party interpreter for a small Python-like language that is deterministic to the byte. Frequent updates followed launch, including native Linux and SteamOS support in 1.3.0, an optional beginner course in 1.4.0 and six desk games in 1.5.0.

— KIB Games, Agents! Please? on Steam (store page incl. AI Generated Content Disclosure)

Verification notes: The AI-coding claim rests on the developer-written AI disclosure on the game's Steam page (re-read on 4 Nov 2026): the code was written with AI agents and reviewed by the developer. No tool is named, so the tool is recorded as undisclosed. The game's subject is AI coding agents and the player can "re-prompt the AI", but the disclosure says no AI runs at runtime and everything was baked and reviewed before shipping, so the AI coworkers are treated as pre-written content, not runtime AI. Studio size (two people), location, founding year and the founders' names from the studio's press kit and team page on 4 Nov 2026; the team size of two is the studio's, and the disclosure speaks of one developer, so who wrote what is not clear. Release date, price, platforms, 31 languages and the demo (app 5197500, 4 Sep 2026, now listed for Windows and Linux) from the Steam store API on 4 Nov 2026, and its scope (one contract, about an hour of shifts) from the developer's demo post of 4 Sep 2026; the native Linux build arrived with release 1.3.0 on 13 Sep 2026; review figures from the store page the same day. Steam shows a General Mature Content descriptor with the developer's note, recorded as maturity. The US$4.04 price is as listed; the store page itself reads "price not found ($4.04)" as a joke.
