About Volatility
In Volatility you are nothing but a PnL number on a trading terminal. You owe a wealthy creditor a debt that accrues interest, and they have you trading their money. Each day the desk surfaces a shortlist of companies with evidence behind them; you read financial statements, filings, analyst notes, earnings-call transcripts and a live news feed, build a thesis with quick factor models, discounted cash flow or regressions, and trade it across equities, options, futures, bonds, FX and swaps, all available from day one. Every run generates a fresh market of companies with real-looking financials, some hiding accounting warning signs, management teams with persistent habits, news shocks that travel through a causal graph of related sectors, and a macro layer with a policy rate, inflation and a yield curve. Margin calls, leverage tied to reputation and short-borrow costs make risk control the real skill. The game runs in three acts, from indentured trader to independent fund to your own firm, against 15 rival funds run by scripted strategies, with Career, Chill, Custom, Ironman and a seeded weekly challenge. The developer, Dancing_Penguin, calls it a one-person project and says in the Steam AI disclosure that most of the code was written with AI coding assistants, and that the game makes no AI calls or network calls while you play. US$5.99 on Steam for Windows and macOS, released 28 Aug 2026.

How it was built
Partially verifiedThe developer's Steam AI disclosure says this is a one-person project with AI tools used throughout development, and that most of the code was written with AI coding assistants. Some player-facing writing was drafted the same way and edited by the developer: the word lists for procedural company names, achievement titles and the templates behind news items and company filings, which ordinary seeded code assembles in play. The store copy was drafted with AI help and the app icon was made with an AI image generator; the rest of the art is drawn by code and the audio is synthesized during play. The game makes no AI calls and no network calls at all. No tool or model is named.
Solo project. Per the Steam disclosure, most of the code was written with AI coding assistants; the procedural market, companies and news are produced by seeded code from AI-drafted, developer-edited word lists and templates, not by a model at runtime. Capsules and library art are drawn programmatically from the game's own stylesheet, and audio is synthesized as you play; only the app icon, which is also reused as the store page background and the base of the achievement icons, is AI-generated.

“This is a one-person project — just me — and I used AI tools throughout development.”Verification notes: The AI claim rests on the developer-written AI disclosure on the game's Steam page (most of the code written with AI coding assistants; no tool named). Solo: the same disclosure calls it a one-person project. Release date, price, platforms, English-only, developer (Dancing_Penguin) and publisher (ClearPath Digital) from the Steam store API, checked 4 Nov 2026; the relationship between the two names is not stated and no website is linked. The 15 rival funds are described on the store page as distinct strategies; the disclosure says the game makes no AI calls, so they are scripted game logic. "Bloomberg-style terminal" is the store page's own description of the interface style; no Bloomberg names or assets are claimed. The store page showed no user reviews on 4 Nov 2026, so no review figures are recorded. Location is not stated.
