About Summoner

Summoner is a free card battle game that comes as a single HTML file to download and open in a browser, playable offline. You use a deck of ordinary playing cards against a computer opponent: one or more royal cards plus exactly one number card summon a creature, whose element and stats come from the number card; up to five number cards of the same element make a spell; and royals can be forged into equipment such as crowns, robes and gauntlets, each with its own effect. The four suits stand for water, fire, earth and air, which beat one another in a cycle, creatures carry abilities such as first strike, healing, stealing cards or resurrection, and each turn allows one spell, one summon and one creature attack. Version 1.1 (1 Nov 2026) added combo and equipment planners, elemental shields, elemental names and lore entries for the creatures and an experimental Story Mode that turns the combat log into narrative from a set of templates. The developer, fabelious, says the game was 100% conceptually designed without AI, but that AI was used to generate the game from the developer's design document, on a free account. Free on itch.io, in development.

How it was built

Partially verified

The itch.io page: “Trigger warning: 100% conceptually designed without AI, but I did use AI to generate the game from my design doc. Used on a free account, so changes will happen periodically as tokens reset.” No tool or model is named. The itch.io AI disclosure ticks Code, Graphics and Text.

Development approach

The developer designed the game and its rules in a design document and used an AI assistant on a free account to generate the game from it; the tool is not named. Per the version 1.1 patch notes, the game remains a standalone HTML file designed for offline play, and its Story Mode builds its narrative log from a limited set of templates and the game's own lore entries.

Verification notes: AI use, status and files from the developer's itch.io page (published 31 Oct 2026, 18:27 UTC; status In development; genre Card Game; AI disclosure ticks AI Assisted, Code, Graphics and Text); rules and features from the version 1.1 patch notes (1 Nov 2026), both re-read on 6 Nov 2026. The developer writes in the first person but does not say whether anyone else worked on the game, so team size is not recorded. The patch notes say the game is a standalone HTML file for offline play and that Story Mode uses fixed narrative templates; the download itself could not be fetched for a check (itch.io rate limit), so the file was not inspected for calls to AI services. itch.io shows no rating and no download count. Location is not stated. We did not play the game.
