About Better Luck Next Run
A roguelite take on the classic turn-based JRPG. You draft a party from 50 characters, and each run starts again. The developer, Jason Siu, built it in RPG Maker MZ. In an article on fullcleared.com, he says he used Claude Code to write all of the code, and that none of the artwork is generative AI. It is a paid Windows game on Steam ($4.99), released on 27 April 2026.

How it was built
VerifiedThe developer says he moved the project to Claude Code and used it to write all of the game's code, while none of the artwork is generative AI. The Steam AI disclosure says AI also helped refine in-game text (item descriptions, skill descriptions, UI text).
- DeveloperSteam AI disclosure says AI was used to assist with programming and refining in-game text. The developer note on the store page says he used Claude Code to assist in development as a solo developer. — Steam
The developer spent about two weeks on the core experience in RPG Maker MZ, then moved the project to Claude Code, which wrote the code. The visual and audio assets are stock RPG Maker MZ assets. A friend made the key art and another friend designed the logo. The developer plans to use part of the revenue to pay artists for original assets.
