About ERA-ming

ERA-ming is a free, Simplified Chinese simulation that tries to recreate the society of late-Ming China during the Chongzhen reign as closely as possible. You play a historical figure or a character you create, in any walk of life from princes, generals and ministers down to peddlers and peasants, and find out whether you change your fate, drift with the tide or simply try to stay alive. The developer's headline feature is that you can give orders in natural language as well as with buttons; per the AI disclosure, those commands are handled by a semantic engine written for the game rather than by full AI functions, and the game is single-player. There is a text interface and a visual interface, and no music. In the store text the developer says they wrote the game using AI, and the Steam AI disclosure says the code was AI-generated; no tool is named. The developer is frank that the game is so far only a basic framework that still lacks a lot of assets, and that the text mode is honestly a bit dull; they invite players to create scripts and assets for it on their website aigmer.com, where the game's code is also to be published. It is written in Python, which the developer says was chosen to get it into shape quickly. Free on Steam for Windows since 22 Oct 2026, in Simplified Chinese only.

How it was built

Partially verified

The developer's Steam AI disclosure (in Chinese) says: “此游戏使用了AI生成代码,相关宣传画也由AI生成后续经手工修改完成。” (This game used AI-generated code; the promotional art was also generated by AI and then finished by hand.) The store's short description opens with “这个游戏是我使用AI编写的” (I wrote this game using AI). No tool or model is named, and no code share is given.

Development approach

Per the developer, the game was written using AI, in Python so that it could take shape quickly; the AI disclosure says the code was AI-generated and the promotional art AI-generated and then retouched by hand. Natural-language commands are handled by a semantic engine that the disclosure says was written for the game. No engine, tool or workflow is named.

“这个游戏是我使用AI编写的,最大特色应该算是可以使用自然语言进行指令,进行游戏”
— aigmer, ERA-ming(时代:明末) on Steam (store page incl. AI Generated Content Disclosure)

Verification notes: The AI claim rests on two developer-written texts on the game's Steam page (read on 4 Nov 2026): the AI disclosure, “此游戏使用了AI生成代码” (the game used AI-generated code), and the short description, “这个游戏是我使用AI编写的” (I wrote this game using AI). No tool is named, so the tool is undisclosed. Runtime: the disclosure says the game is single-player (单机游戏) and that during play it uses a semantic engine written for the game and does not use full AI functions (“没有使用完整的AI功能”); the natural-language commands are therefore not counted as runtime AI, but the game's code could not be inspected to confirm how they are parsed, because the download on aigmer.com needs an account. The Steam system requirements ask for 1 GB of RAM and 100 MB of storage, and aigmer.com lists the game package at about 31.6 MB. aigmer.com is the website the Steam page links; its entry for the game (uploaded 5 Aug 2026) repeats the Steam description and says the source code will be published on the site's code page. Release date, price, platform and language from the Steam store API (the store's language table lists English as not supported); the review count from the store page on 4 Nov 2026. Steam's auto-generated age ratings for some regions are 18+ for violence; the developer has added no mature-content note. Team size and location are not stated.
