About THE WELL
THE WELL is a short first-person psychological horror game, about 30 minutes long. A nameless hermit who lives miles from anyone realises after a splendid feast that someone has doomed him: the electricity is gone, the car is broken and the battery-powered landline has been destroyed. Starving and going mad, he drinks from the well to dull his hunger, until one day the bucket brings up a human corpse, and he begins to carry out its requests as if they came from a living person. Over several in-game days you explore his fog-bound property and the surrounding forest, read notes and books, find items and complete simple objectives, while the house slowly turns into a dump. In short hunting sections you track humanoid creatures in the forest with a slow-reloading rifle and finish them off with a machete, with basic stealth and a noise system that makes them react to your movement and gunfire. In a Steam post Marrit calls THE WELL the developer's first game and names David Szymanski's Squirrel Stapler as its original inspiration. The Steam AI disclosure says Claude wrote the game's code and several textures were made with another AI tool, and that everything else is human-made. Developed and published by Creeps LTD. and Marrit; free on Steam for Windows since 12 Dec 2025, in English and Russian. Steam lists mature content, including violence, corpses, dismemberment and cannibalism.

How it was built
Partially verifiedThe developers' Steam AI disclosure, in full: “Claude wrote the game's code, and several textures were created with another AI tool. All other aspects of the game are human-made.” It does not name a Claude product or model, or the tool used for the textures.
Per the Steam disclosure, Claude wrote the code, several textures came from another AI tool, and everything else is human-made. Steam credits two developers, Creeps LTD. and Marrit; a later post by Marrit calls the game a first experience of “(almost) solo” development. A large update on 27 Mar 2026 added a Russian translation, an optional hints system and a streamlined hunting section.

“Claude wrote the game's code, and several textures were created with another AI tool. All other aspects of the game are human-made.”Verification notes: The AI claim rests on the developer-written AI disclosure on the game's Steam page (re-read on 4 Nov 2026): Claude wrote the game's code, several textures came from another AI tool, and everything else is human-made. When the disclosure was written is not known. Steam lists Creeps LTD. and Marrit as developers and publishers; nothing was found about Creeps LTD., and Marrit's post of 14 Jan 2026 speaks of “(almost) solo” development, so the team size is not recorded. The post of 12 Aug 2026 names Squirrel Stapler as the original inspiration; that comparison is the developer's own. Release date, price, Windows only and the two languages from the Steam store API; Russian arrived with the update of 27 Mar 2026. Review figures from the store page on 4 Nov 2026. Steam lists Frequent Violence or Gore and General Mature Content with the developers' note, recorded as maturity. Same developer as The Black Whale.
