About Fantor: The Wanderer's Light

A hard, old-school 2D platformer narrated like a storybook. Every hundred years the sea gives the land of Fantor a light, and this time it walked out of the waves wearing a cloak. You carry it through seven painted lands, from the Shore of Wakes and the Forest of Bent Trees to the Golden Kingdom, the Frygar Camp and the Heart of Fantor, while every army wants the light for itself and seven old powers stand in the way. You have three lives and no continues: lose the last one and you start again from the first shore. Light is both shield and weapon, since every hit drains it, and shining to calm the shadows costs 3 light each time. The seven bosses turn your light aside, so you learn their patterns and strike when they rest, and hazards give a warning before they hit. Some places are hidden. A clean run takes around 10 to 15 minutes. The developer, Eh AyeC, says the code was written with an AI coding assistant, then tested and tuned by playing; the art comes from the developer's AI-generated Fantor's Long War images, and the narrator is a synthetic text-to-speech voice. Free in the browser on itch.io, with keyboard on desktop or touch buttons on phones in landscape; it was entered in AI Browser Game Jam 5.

How it was built

Partially verified

The itch.io page's “AI-assisted: an honest note” says the code was written with an AI coding assistant, then tested and tuned by playing, and the credits read “Code: built with an AI coding assistant”; the jam submission repeats that the code was written with an AI coding assistant and tuned by playing it, over and over. No assistant or model is named. The same note says the narrator is a synthetic voice (Piper text-to-speech, VCTK voice p237) with audio processing, the score is AI-assisted, and the artwork was generated with AI image tools and then selected and curated by the artist, with some backgrounds extended to widescreen by AI image extension and the characters cut out with an AI background-removal tool.

Supporting evidence
Development approach

Made for AI Browser Game Jam 5 (theme: Torch). Game design is credited to Eh AyeC and the code to an unnamed AI coding assistant, tested and tuned by playing. The images and characters come from the developer's own Fantor's Long War collection on Fine Art America, which the developer describes as AI-generated images created and curated by the artist; characters are cut out of the images and animated in code. The story and narration come from the developer's short film The Road to Fantor, voiced by Piper text-to-speech; the score is described as AI-assisted. The browser build is JavaScript drawing on a 2D canvas.

Verification notes: AI use from the AI note and credits on the itch.io page and the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page, both re-read on 5 Nov 2026. Both say the code was written with an AI coding assistant; neither names the assistant or gives a share, so the tool is undisclosed and no AI code share is recorded. The itch.io AI disclosure ticks Code, Graphics, Sounds and Text. Publication (22 Oct 2026, 14:32 UTC) and last update (4 Nov 2026, 22:52 UTC) from the itch.io page. The page uses “we” in its AI note and the jam answer uses “I”; team size is not stated. The narration ships as audio files in the build; the build makes no calls to AI services. Jam voting was still open on 5 Nov 2026 (3 ratings so far), so no placement is recorded; itch.io shows no public rating. The game was not played.
