About God Codex
God Codex is a cinematic 2D pixel-art action adventure set in a dark fantasy world where humanity has fought an endless war against the demons for generations. You start as a young girl destined to become a knight, train through the seasons, receive your knighthood, fight across ruined frontiers and rise to become the Knight of the Sky, with one final mission: slay the Demon King. When your blade reaches her, you wake up inside the memories of the person you were sent to destroy, and the same war is then told from two girls' points of view. The developer calls it a playable animated film: there are no dialogue boxes, quest markers or long exposition, and the story is told through cinematic direction, character animation, the environments, music and silence, and boss fights that double as dramatic scenes. Combat is deliberate close-range swordplay with heavy hit-stop and restrained effects, with an almost UI-free presentation and an orchestral soundtrack. The developer's Steam AI disclosure says the game code was pre-generated by AI in an IDE tool and then reviewed by hand; it also says some sound effects and music were generated as MIDI files by a large language model and edited by hand, and that the art was first generated with an online AI and then selected and modified. No tool is named. The game was first announced as Forbidden Codex and renamed in July 2026 because that title was already in use. A free demo has been on Steam for Windows since 19 Oct 2026; the full game is listed for Q1 2027, with no price announced.

“The game code was pre-generated by AI in an IDE tool and then manually reviewed.”Verification notes: The AI claim rests on the developer-written AI disclosure on the game's Steam page (read on 4 Nov 2026): the game code was pre-generated by AI in an IDE tool and then manually reviewed. No tool is named, so the tool is undisclosed; the disclosure gives no code share. The demo's store address redirects to the main store page. Story and features come from the store description, which still uses the old title Forbidden Codex; the rename to God Codex (“God Codex™”) is from the developer's Steam announcement of 26 Jul 2026 (UTC), which says the original title was already in use by another work, and the demo announcement of 19 Oct 2026 calls the game “Codex of the Gods”. Demo date, platform and languages from the Steam store API: the main app lists English and Simplified Chinese, the demo also Japanese; the full game's date is given as “Q1 2027”. No user reviews were shown on 4 Nov 2026. No source mentions AI running during play. The developer's Steam announcements are posted by the account zxgres17. Team size and location are not stated.
