About Immortal Dao Idle

Immortal Dao Idle is an online multiplayer idle RPG built on the cultivation (xianxia) genre, by a developer who says they love xianxia and wuxia light novels and could not find a good cultivation idler. You gather Qi from spirit stones and break through realms, train attack, defence, vitality and speed, learn secret arts that cast on their own in combat, and explore zones of procedurally generated beasts. Players can farm together in small real-time co-op parties, climb a ranked PvP arena and a challenge tower, trade on a market and, since version 1.2, build an Abode. Players can also commission custom avatars, beasts, secret arts and estates, which arrive in later patches, and chat and player-made content are translated automatically between the game's languages. The developer's Steam AI disclosure says they are not a coder: they used AI for the artwork and, drawing on an IT background, had AI create the backend code. It does not say how the rest of the code was made, and names no tool. Paid on Steam for Windows, with cosmetic and support packs that the store says give no pay-to-win advantage.

How it was built

Partially verified

The developer's Steam AI disclosure says they are not a coder, videographer or digital animator, so they used AI to create the artwork and used their background in IT to get AI to create the backend code. The statement covers only the backend code: it does not say how the game client was written, and it names no tool.

Development approach

Per the developer's Steam disclosure, AI made the artwork and the developer used an IT background to have AI create the backend code. The playtest post lists a full server backend with Steam sign-in, cloud saves, leaderboards and a server-authoritative economy. Since the 21 Sep 2026 launch the developer has posted frequent patch notes (version 1.2.2 on 29 Oct 2026), including an anti-exploit system, the Fairness Watch, that flags results beyond what a character's build allows.

“I'm not a coder/videographer/digital animator etc I used AI for the artwork creation and used my background in IT to get AI to create the backend code.”

Verification notes: AI use from the developer-written AI disclosure on the game's Steam page, which covers the artwork and the backend code only; we record exactly that and do not extend it to the rest of the code. No tool is named. In the playtest thread of March 2026 one commenter said the disclosure then mentioned AI only for the artwork, while another paraphrased the not-a-coder wording; the current text covers both. The playtest post by u/Electrical-Message67 (mirror snapshot captured 11 Mar 2026; the original reddit.com URL was not checked) links this Steam app and describes the game in the first person; that is its only tie to the developer. Team size is not stated. Runtime AI: the disclosure describes no content generated during play. Commissioned avatars, beasts and arts are approved and added in later patches with a scheduled date (patch 1.1.11), not generated live. The Fairness Watch is described as an agent that flags results beyond a build's limits; no source says it uses generative AI. Chat, server announcements and player-made secret arts, beasts and cities are machine-translated in the game (patches 1.1.7 and 1.1.9); the translation service is not named. Release date, price, platform and languages from the Steam store API; review figures from the store page (the review API returned nothing when checked).
