About Lantern Street
Lantern Street is a free, cozy café game about a little tea shop at the end of Lantern Street, played in the browser. You inherit the café from your great-aunt Lin, who left behind a notebook of recipes with pages missing: over the years she lent those pages to people on the street, and every regular you befriend gives one back and lights a lantern over the street, which grows warmer as you play. Each day is a short rush in which orders speed up, followed by a calm evening in which you decorate the shop and set prices. You build drinks in layers, pearls or jelly at the bottom, a tea base and milk or fruit on top, create your own character and decorate the shop. The story lives in the last customer of each shift, and the drink you make for them steers the conversation; the developer says this part was inspired by Coffee Talk. The developer, who posts as earofgeorge, made it for a 12-year-old daughter who loves cozy shop sims: Claude asked many design questions and produced a written game bible (about 12,000 words of script so far), a design system and all the code, while the art and music were generated through OpenRouter with Claude directing, for about US$15 in total. Built for tablets and playable on a phone held sideways, with calm lo-fi music and a feedback button.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn a post on r/ClaudeAI (3 Nov 2026, UTC) the developer says they typed out a brief for Claude (a boba café, recurring characters with ongoing stories of their own, a customizable character, a shop to decorate) and told it to ask many questions and to treat art and writing as the top priority. “Claude asked me lots of design questions, produced a written game bible (~12k words of script so far), a design system, all the code. Art and music come from OpenRouter with Claude directing.” The post does not say which Claude product or which models on OpenRouter were used.
Per the developer, Claude wrote the game bible, the design system and all the code from the developer's brief and answers, and directed the generation of the art and music through OpenRouter; the developer puts the total spend at about US$15. The site is plain JavaScript split into separate scripts for the data, the core loop, the avatar, the drink station, the rush, the story and its scripts, the screens, the seasons, the feedback form and the menu, with no framework found.

“Claude asked me lots of design questions, produced a written game bible (~12k words of script so far), a design system, all the code.”Verification notes: The claim that Claude produced all the code comes from the developer's post on r/ClaudeAI by u/earofgeorge (3 Nov 2026, 22:13 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive because reddit.com did not answer our checks. Story, gameplay loop, devices and cost come from the post; the layered drinks and the menu items come from the game's page and data file (checked 4 Nov 2026). The release date is not stated: the post says the work started “a couple days ago”. Coffee Talk is named by the developer as inspiration only; we found no Coffee Talk names or assets. Team size and location are not stated. The art and music were generated through OpenRouter during development; we searched the game's scripts for AI service endpoints and found none, so nothing is generated at play time, and the only network requests we found load the game's own music files and send the feedback form. Nothing in the sources describes AI used during play. The game was not played.
