About OVERTIME GRIND

A frantic arcade game set at an office desk at 11:47 PM. Paperwork lands on both sides of the desk faster than you can clear it, and you stamp the left or right pile to meet each level's quota before the timer runs out. Your torch is your stamina: every stamp burns it down, your worker's face goes from fresh to grey burnout as it dims, and the music slows and muffles with it. Holding the coffee button refills the torch, but your hands are full while you sip, so you cannot stamp. Red hazard-striped decoys (meeting invites, reorg memos) cost four seconds if you stamp them, fourteen papers on the desk ends the round, and boss audits lock your controls until the boss is satisfied. Survive all ten levels and the game ends with a flying kick at the boss. Best times are saved on the device. The developer, vendatta77, says the game was written with Claude in an iterative conversation: the original game was AI-generated, then Claude and the developer iterated on it together. Free in the browser on itch.io, on desktop (A/D or arrow keys) and phones (on-screen buttons); it was entered in AI Browser Game Jam 5.

How it was built

Partially verified
ClaudePrimary

The itch.io page says the game was “Written with Claude (Anthropic) in an iterative conversation: the original game was AI-generated, then Claude and I iterated on it together”. The iterations it lists are the graphics polish, the character's face and burnout animation, the decoy “time penalty” documents, the rule that drinking coffee blocks stamping, the procedural music loop, the pile-up and overflow mechanic and the play balancing. Balance was checked with scripted bot playthroughs (casual, steady and expert profiles) across all ten levels.

Supporting evidence
Development approach

A single HTML file written with Claude in a chat conversation, per the itch.io page: an AI-generated first version, then rounds of changes made by Claude and the developer together. All art is drawn procedurally in canvas code and all sound and music is generated live with Web Audio; the page says there are no external assets and no image or audio models. Balance was tuned with scripted bot playthroughs at three skill profiles.

Verification notes: AI use from the itch.io page and the AI Tools Used answer (“claude”) on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page, both re-read on 5 Nov 2026. The page says the original game was AI-generated and then iterated on by Claude and the developer together; it does not name the model, Claude Code or a share, so no AI code share is recorded and the tool is recorded as Claude (chat). The itch.io AI disclosure ticks Code, Graphics, Sounds and Text. Same developer account as wolfpack. Team size is not stated. Publication (19 Oct 2026, 13:17 UTC) from the itch.io page; it lists the genre as Action. The browser build is a single JavaScript canvas file and makes no calls to AI services (checked 5 Nov 2026). Jam voting was still open on 5 Nov 2026, so no placement is recorded; itch.io shows no public rating. The game was not played.
