About Shattered Realms
Shattered Realms is a free digital card game set in a world that broke into realms, and every deck combines two of them. Each realm plays its own way: per the developer, Vampires pay with their own Health for power, Lycanthropes switch between human and beast forms, Aliens splice enemy minions into hybrids and Zombies keep coming back from the dead. Every pair of realms has its own Fusion spell, a finisher you charge up during the match; each realm also has a Hero Spell that is always on hand, and you can set hidden traps and play Quick Plays during your opponent's turn. A deck has 40 cards, at least ten from each realm and at most two copies of a card, or you can start with a ready-made deck. The developer's post counts over 800 cards, including 44 legendaries, with expansions that unlock as you play. You can play the computer at five levels from Easy to Impossible, a friend on the same device or online with a room code, or ranked matches with a leaderboard; the developer says there are no ads and no purchases. It runs in the browser on PC and phone, on itch.io or on its own site, and there is an Android download. The solo developer, FadeAwayToday, designed the realms and every card and says the code was written by an AI coding assistant, Claude, while the card art was generated with AI image tools from the developer's prompts. In English; listed as in development.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn a post on r/playmygame (22 Oct 2026, UTC) the solo developer writes: “I’m not a traditional programmer: the code was written by an AI coding assistant (Claude) working from my designs and direction.” The developer came up with the game, designed all the realms, their mechanics and every card, and balances and playtests it. The card, hero and board images were generated with unnamed AI image tools from prompts the developer wrote and refined.
- Developeritch.io AI disclosure: AI Assisted, with Code, Graphics and Sounds. — itch.io
Per the developer, one person designs the game (realms, mechanics, every card and the balance) and Claude writes the code from those designs; the images are AI-generated from the developer's prompts. The web version is a JavaScript app whose content security policy only allows connections to the game's own server on onrender.com and to the PeerJS broker used for room-code matches.

“I’m not a traditional programmer: the code was written by an AI coding assistant (Claude) working from my designs and direction.”Verification notes: AI use from the developer's post on r/playmygame by u/AnestheticLove (22 Oct 2026, 20:49 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive, and the itch.io page (published 9 Oct 2026, 00:38 UTC; updated 5 Nov 2026, 14:14 UTC; status In development; HTML5 and Android), both re-read on 5 Nov 2026. The post names Claude and an “AI coding assistant”; it does not say whether Claude Code or the chat app was used and gives no share, so no AI code share is recorded. The Reddit account and the itch.io account are tied by the post linking both the web version and the itch.io page in the first person. The post lists a Windows download, but on 5 Nov 2026 the itch.io page offered only the browser version and an Android APK. Card count (over 800, 44 legendaries), the five difficulty levels, hot-seat play and the no-ads, no-purchases statement come from the post; deck rules, Fusion spells, Hero Spells and the online modes from the itch.io page. The post calls it a game “in the spirit of Hearthstone” and the itch.io page carries a hearthstone tag; no Blizzard names, characters or assets were seen, so no IP notice is recorded. The computer opponent is ordinary game logic: the web version's security policy allows connections only to the game's own server and the PeerJS broker. Team size 1 from the post (“I’m the solo creator”). itch.io rating 5.0 from 3 ratings on 5 Nov 2026; itch.io shows no download count. The game was not played.
