About Buster Breaks Out
A brick-breaking roguelite with hand-made pixel art, built in Godot by Nose Corporation. The developer says in an r/aigamedev post that coding has been the most exciting use of AI, mostly with Codex and also Cursor, while the pixel art is handmade and the music was made without AI. It entered Early Access on Steam on 6 March 2026 and has a full release date of 17 August 2026, for Windows and Linux.

How it was built
Partially verifiedThe developer says the latest models, "mostly Codex", made AI far more useful for coding, and that once an idea is clear a feature often takes only one or two calls to Codex. The game is written in GDScript (Godot), which the developer says early AI tools handled poorly.
Named by the developer, alongside agentic models such as Codex, as a coding tool that has improved a lot.
Built in Godot over about six months alongside a full-time job, per the developer. AI wrote much of the code and an automated test that plays through upgrade combinations for balancing. Pixel art is handmade, music made without AI; sound effects came from ElevenLabs or Beatoven and some marketing art from gpt-image-1.5.

“But once I have an idea of what I want to do, actually implementing it is very quick, often only one or two calls to Codex.”Verification notes: Price, release date, platforms and languages are from the Steam store API (US). AI use comes from the developer's r/aigamedev post, read through a mirror snapshot captured 17 Mar 2026. The original reddit.com URL was not checked. The post links this Steam page, and that link is the only thing tying the Reddit account to Nose Corporation. The Steam page has no AI-generated content disclosure. The Early Access release date (6 Mar 2026) is shown on the Steam store page. The post does not say outright that the game is solo-developed, so team size is left undisclosed. The creator quote is from the developer's own comment in the same thread.
