About Three.js Quake
A full port of the 1996 Quake engine to plain JavaScript, with Three.js doing the rendering, playable in the browser with the shareware first episode included. It was made by mrdoob, the creator of Three.js, who wrote that he went down the rabbit hole of porting Quake's source with Claude Code. In a later post he added that Claude struggled to port the QuakeWorld multiplayer server to Deno and WebTransport, and that Codex figured it out. The README credits the port to "@mrdoob with @claude". The code is GPL-2.0; the full game needs your own registered data files.
How it was built
VerifiedPorted Quake's C source to JavaScript and Three.js. The README credits "@mrdoob with @claude"; the developer wrote on Reddit that he did the port "using Claude Code".

Ported the QuakeWorld multiplayer server to Deno and WebTransport after Claude struggled with it, per the developer.
A port of Quake's source code to JavaScript and Three.js, done by prompting Claude Code. The developer said it was quite a lot of prompting work and that he ended up finding a good workflow for porting.
