About DeltaV Orbital Strategy

DeltaV Orbital Strategy is an orbital strategy game set across the Solar System in 2079, in which orbits are the terrain and delta-v is the economy. Every ship in your fleet draws on the same delta-v reserve, which pays for orbital transfers, point defence against incoming missiles and the upkeep of holding a contested orbit, so moving one ship can leave another unable to reposition or defend itself. The only way to refill the reserve is to operate tritium factories, and the last faction with a viable path to tritium wins; you can cut opponents off by destroying ships, controlling key orbits or making them burn too much delta-v. Before committing a move you can preview its route, delta-v cost and arrival turn while planets and moons keep moving along their orbits; orders are committed privately and resolved simultaneously, and missile attacks and point defence are fully deterministic, with no hit chances or damage rolls. Layouts are procedural, and the full game, planned for Early Access, is to offer complete single-player matches against one or two computer-controlled factions; multiplayer is a stretch goal. The solo developer says Codex generated the game's original code and visual assets, as well as its written content and localization, under the developer's direction, while the developer designs the rules, directs iterations and tests the game; the soundtrack is licensed and no generative AI runs during play. A free guided demo, a playable tutorial, has been on Steam for Windows and Apple Silicon Macs since 14 Oct 2026 and took part in Steam Next Fest in October 2026; the full game has no release date or price yet. English and Italian.

The developer's Steam AI disclosure says: “Codex generated the game's original code and visual assets, as well as written content and localization, under the developer's detailed direction. The developer designs the rules, directs iterations, tests the game and reviews the output.” The store description adds that this covers everything “from the simulation and interface to the spacecraft and planetary environments”. The soundtrack is licensed, and third-party fonts, sound recordings and software libraries are credited separately. No model is named.

Development approach

One developer directing Codex: per the Steam disclosure and the Next Fest announcement, Codex generated the original code, the visual assets, the written content and the localization, while the developer designs the rules, directs iterations, tests the game and reviews the output. The soundtrack is AlkaKrab's 30 Sci-fi Space Tracks under a royalty-free licence, the font adapts the public-domain Glass TTY VT220, and the interface sounds use CC0 relay and switch recordings, per the website's credits, which also list Three.js and Zod as the software libraries used. The computer-controlled opponents use rule-based game logic, and nothing is generated during play.

Verification notes: The AI claim rests on the developer-written AI disclosure and the store description on the game's Steam page (read on 4 Nov 2026), which say Codex generated the original game code and visual assets under the developer's direction, and on the developer's Steam Next Fest announcement (20 Oct 2026, UTC), which repeats it in the first person. The disclosure says DeltaV does not generate content during play or connect to a generative AI service, and that the computer opponents use conventional rule-based logic. Team size 1 and the name Stefano De Angelis come from the announcement's signature (“solo developer”). Gameplay from the store description and the announcement; the website's description calls the game deterministic and turn-based. The website deltavorbitalstrategy.com, linked from the Steam page, loads a Three.js web app titled “DeltaV Orbital Strategy 0.7” whose script contains a guided tutorial and a NEW GAME option marked as currently inactive; we did not play it, so it is not listed as a separate way to play. Credits (music, font, sounds, libraries) from the website's credits page. Demo date, platforms and languages from the Steam store API; the demo's store address redirects to the main page; Steam marks the full game as Early Access, coming soon, with no price. No user reviews were shown on 4 Nov 2026. Location is not stated.
