About OUT OF OFFICE: European Business Simulator
An idle clicker in the browser that the page calls “a loving parody of the European summer work ethic”. You run a business somewhere in Europe, it is summer, and the goal is to keep the company technically alive while actually doing nothing. Out-of-office replies are the currency: you farm them, turn them into cash flow and keep production above the business's demand, buying ways to automate your absence, from an Auto-Reply Bot and an Intern on Gap Year to a Ferme en Août Protocol, a Ministry of Long Weekends and a Continental OOO Grid. Longer vacations, from a cheeky fortnight to June-to-September and finally Infinite Summer, speed up the replies, and retiring resets progress for Tycoon Points that permanently add 10% to production each. A joke “European Superintelligence” trained on delayed replies is part of the satire, not a call to an AI service. The entrant pitches it as “A 100% realistic simulation of running a European Business in the summer”. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Claude Code as the tool. It finished 401st of 945 entries. Free in the browser.

“A 100% realistic simulation of running a European Business in the summer”Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine (HTML/CSS/JS), genre (Simulation), pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer (No), mobile (Yes) and portal (No) flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 30 Apr 2026, 16:20 UTC; final rank 401 of 945 entries, no award), re-read on 5 Nov 2026; rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. In the inspiration field the entrant says they run a European business themselves. Developer: the jam data gives the handle @jicecream (display name Jonathan Courtney, location Berlin; the X bio reads “Founder facilitator.com, ajsmart.com and host of The Unscheduled CEO podcast”), and the page credits “Made by @jicecream”. The game is on a generic vercel.app address, so the attribution rests on the jam entry and that credit. Team size is not stated. Upgrades, vacation tiers and the retirement system come from the page and its inline script; the game was not played. The page loads no scripts other than the jam widget and makes no calls to AI services. The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 30 Apr 2026.
