About PROTECT MIEKO
A free demo of a retro-style, pixel-art side-scrolling shooter that turns the usual roles around. The fighter is piloted by a girl, Mieko, who cannot survive on her own; you play an invincible little shield drone and have to block the bullets, beams, electric shocks, slashes and shockwaves aimed at her. The developer says the idea came from wondering what it would be like to steer a shooter's invincible option unit yourself. Moving is the only control (arrow keys, WASD or a gamepad's left stick). Each run hands out random abilities, and debuffs, so it plays differently every time. The demo contains the first stage in three random variants and is in Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean. The page says it is the demo of a paid game, but we found no store page for the full game and no price or release date. The developer says the character art, animation and music were made with generative AI, and that the program and the translations were written by AI (Claude).

Verification notes: The AI claim rests on one developer statement on the game's Freem! page (“プログラムと翻訳はAI（Claude）が書いています”). It names only “Claude”, so the chat app and Claude Code are not told apart. The page says this is the demo of a paid game (有料ゲームの体験版), but no store page for the full game was found: a Steam store search and a web search for the title returned nothing, and the creator page links no website or social account. The full game's price, platforms and release date are unknown, so the game's release date stays empty. Team size comes from the creator profile, which says the developer makes games as an individual (個人で). The random abilities and debuffs per run are the developer's description; the game is not tagged as a roguelike. Registered on Freem! on 17 Oct 2026 and updated to version 1.20 on 20 Oct. The page says the build is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first launch. The game was not run, and nothing on the page mentions AI running during play. Freem! shows no reviews.
