About The Hired Swords
A roguelite auto-battler in the browser. You pick a commander, build a team from fantasy, tribal, robot, beast and undead units, and send it into battles that play out on their own; the aim is to master synergies between units and climb as far as you can before your run ends. Your opponents are “ghosts”: teams that other players saved at the same win–loss record, and when none is available the game makes up an opponent itself. There is a tutorial, achievements and a hall of fame leaderboard. The entrant names Super Auto Pets as the inspiration. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Claude Code as the tool, and the game's own title screen says “Code: 100% AI”. The pixel art is credited to PENUSBMIC. It finished 68th of 945 entries. Free, in desktop and mobile browsers.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. The game's title screen credits “Art: PENUSBMIC | Code: 100% AI” without naming a tool. No devlog describes how Claude Code was used or which model ran it, and the submission covers the jam version only.
- OfficialJam rule 3: at least 90% of the code has to be written by AI. — Vibe Jam (Pieter Levels)
- DeveloperTitle-screen credit: “Art: PENUSBMIC | Code: 100% AI” (no tool named). — Farman.Farout
Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 on Phaser, with Claude Code named as the tool and the code credited on the title screen as 100% AI. The art is credited to PENUSBMIC, a pixel artist who sells sprite packs on itch.io; the unit data in the game's script names those packs (The DARK Series, STRANDED and others). Saved teams, the leaderboard and the hall of fame are stored on Supabase.

“Build the ultimate team and master synergies as you battle the ghosts of other human players on your way to the top!”Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine (Phaser), genre (“Puzzle, Strategy, roguelite autobattler”), pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer, mobile and portal flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data, where the game is listed as “Hired Swords” (submitted 28 Apr 2026, 09:48 UTC; final rank 68 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. The multiplayer is asynchronous: per the game's script, finished teams are saved and later served to other players as opponents. Developer: the title screen names Farman.Farout; the jam data gives the X handle Titanztommy, whose profile (display name Titanz Tommy Boy, Nashville) describes itself as a throwaway account for talking about the Tennessee Titans and does not link the game, so who Farman.Farout is, and the team size, are not established. The art credit PENUSBMIC matches the itch.io account Penusbmic, whose packs include The DARK Series and STRANDED, the pack names used in the game's unit data; we did not check which packs or licences were used. Commanders, unit tribes, the tutorial, achievements and the hall of fame come from the game's script. The game's code talks only to its Supabase backend and the jam widget and portal; no calls to AI services were found. The jam page's widget counters showed 113 plays and 29 portal transfers for hiredswordsvibecode2026.netlify.app on 4 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as metrics). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 28 Apr 2026.
