Demolition Derby
Ram, boost and wreck strangers' cars in a dusty online arena. No install, no sign-up.
Official site demolition-derby.xyz, verified Nov 3, 2026. Linked from the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data as the entry URL submitted under the X handle merijnvanes; the page's author metadata names Merijn van Es. No developer-owned page links the game: neither that X profile nor the sites it links (seef.ai, dobudex.com) link it.
Rights holder / original work: Pieter Levels (levelsio, the jam organiser); DeLorean (car name, DeLorean Motor Company; its time-jump evokes Back to the Future, Universal Pictures); Hulk (Marvel); “Retake Manhattan” (PandaDNB ft. JYMC)
The game has a playable character named after the jam organiser's handle levelsio, whose transformed form is called “hulksio”, a play on Marvel's Hulk; a car named DeLorean in the game's files whose boost opens a time-jump-style portal; and the track “Retake Manhattan” by PandaDNB ft. JYMC, credited and linked on the page. No source shows permission from Pieter Levels, a licence for the DeLorean or Hulk names, or a licence for the music. FlatOut 2 is named as inspiration only; no FlatOut names or assets were found. (Merijn van Es)
VibeGameDB lists this game only to document that it was made with AI coding tools. We do not host it, we do not represent the rights holder, and listing it does not mean it is licensed.

About Demolition Derby
A real-time multiplayer car-smashing game in the browser. You enter a driver name, pick a car and a paint colour in the garage and drive into a shared arena with other players, scoring by ramming rivals and more for wrecking them, with boost, handbrake and look-back controls and a respawn after a short lock. Besides ordinary cars, the game's files include a DeLorean whose boost opens a portal once it passes 100 km/h, and an on-foot character called levelsio, after the online handle of the jam's organiser Pieter Levels, who can transform into a larger “hulksio” form that punches cars; that character's theme is the credited track “Retake Manhattan” by PandaDNB ft. JYMC, which the page says features Pieter Levels on the mic. The entrant pitches it as “just dumb fun” and names FlatOut 2's demolition derby, a LAN-party favourite, as the inspiration. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Cursor as the tool. It finished 26th of 945 entries. Free; the page says a keyboard is required, so it plays on desktop and laptop only.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Cursor as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. No devlog describes how Cursor was used or which model ran inside it, and the submission covers the jam version only.
- OfficialJam rule 3: at least 90% of the code has to be written by AI. — Vibe Jam (Pieter Levels)
Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 on Three.js, served as plain, unminified ES modules, with Cursor named as the tool. The client has its own physics prediction, networking and audio modules and talks to the game's own multiplayer server.

“FlatOut 2 Demolition Derby was one of our favourite games during LAN parties back in the days”Verification notes: Tool (Cursor), engine, genre, pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer, mobile (No) and portal flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 19 Apr 2026; final rank 26 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. Developer: the page's author metadata is “Merijn van Es”; the jam data gives the X handle merijnvanes (display name Merijn), whose bio links seef.ai, which lists Merijn van Es as a co-founder, and dobudex.com, whose page metadata names @merijnvanes as creator. No developer-owned page links the game. The inspiration says “our favourite games”, so team size is unclear and not recorded. A comment in the served client source (client/Audio.js) refers to a CLAUDE.md file, the instructions file Claude Code reads; on its own that does not show which tool wrote the code, so no second tool is recorded. The DeLorean, levelsio and hulksio details come from the game's shared constants, asset files (assets/vehicles/delorean.glb, assets/characters/levelsio.glb and hulksio.glb) and on-screen control hints; the music credit links a YouTube upload titled “PandaDNB ft. JYMC - Retake Manhattan”. The client modules talk only to the game's own server and the jam widget; no calls to AI services were found. The jam page's widget counters showed 1,028 plays and 1,777 portal transfers for demolition-derby.xyz on 4 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as metrics). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 19 Apr 2026.
