About GET ME THE PICTURES!

GET ME THE PICTURES! is a small typing game in the browser set at the copy desk of The Night Wire, a newspaper with a vintage newsroom feel. Photos arrive, and you type their captions and dispatches, catch and correct your mistakes, and decide which job to tackle next, turning six photo assignments into a finished edition; every assignment you complete becomes part of the newspaper you see at the end of the shift. There are Standard and Deadline modes with a five-minute press clock, an untimed Practice mode, late filing while the clock is still running, optional synthesized typewriter sound, and an end-of-shift report with your typing speed, input accuracy and an observation about the session. Copy must match its source exactly, including punctuation and capital letters, and errors stay in the accuracy count even after you fix them. It is built for a physical keyboard and needs no account. It is one of the browser games of The UVB-76 Project, which makes games in which practicing a useful skill is what moves the game forward. The credits say the project supplied the concept and direction and that the code was written by GPT Astra through Codex; the photographic-style illustrations are fictional images made with OpenAI image generation.

The itch.io credits read: “Concept and creative direction by The UVB-76 Project. Code written by GPT Astra through Codex, from The UVB-76 Project's ideas and direction.” The fictional photographic-style illustrations were generated with OpenAI image generation, and the typewriter audio is synthesized in the browser. The page says the game has no live AI connection and that it is an independent project, not an official OpenAI game.

Development approach

Per the credits and the developer's posts, the developer supplied the idea and creative direction and GPT Astra wrote the code through Codex, in a process the developer describes as testing, feedback and revisions. The illustrations are AI-generated fictional images made with OpenAI image generation, and the typewriter sounds are synthesized in the browser. The page says there is no game account, analytics or live AI connection, and that an optional local memory of your mistakes can be reset.

Verification notes: The Codex claim comes from the credits on the itch.io page (checked 4 Nov 2026) and from the developer's posts by u/THEUVB76PROJECT on r/WebGames (11 Sep 2026, 15:44 UTC, and 19 Sep 2026, 04:41 UTC) and r/aigamedev (17 Sep 2026, 01:38 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive because reddit.com did not answer our checks. GPT Astra is the model name as the developer writes it. Features, modes and the privacy statement come from the itch.io page, which lists the status Prototype, English, keyboard input and an AI disclosure of AI Assisted, Code, Graphics, Sounds and Text, and shows no publication date or rating; the earliest post we found is from 11 Sep 2026. The first post links alsmaric.itch.io, an address that now redirects to this page, so we treat it as an earlier name of the same account. The first post also describes the game as a pilot for an open-source suite; we found no source code. The developer's other games (THE UVB-76 PROTOCOL, HOLD MY FUEL ROD!, BIOS // SYNTAX OVERRIDE, KANA SHURIKEN) are not recorded here. The developer's name, team size and location are not stated. The game was not played.

Development history

  1. First shared on r/WebGames, with the note that GPT Astra wrote the code.

  2. Presented on r/aigamedev as one of the browser games of The UVB-76 Project, all coded by GPT Astra through Codex.

  3. Shared again on r/WebGames with six assignments, two timed modes and a Practice mode.
