About Hollowlight
A pixel-art action game that mixes a survivors-style shooter, tower defense and a twin-stick shooter: your powers fire on their own while you aim and shoot your gun yourself. You are the Lamplighter, keeper of the last light in the Hollow. Each day you climb to the Surface to gather, fight roaming monsters and gunmen and find guns with random “etchings”, modifiers that change how their rounds behave; each night the Hollow floods with monsters through its tunnels and you hold the line with the towers you built (Bolt, Mortar, Frost, Arc and Sunfire, which can be paired into linked networks), your powers and your own aim. There are boss days with top-down boss fights, the Drowned Deep, and a night when something vast rises from the dark. A win takes 20 nights, on Normal, Hard or Nightmare, with an online leaderboard. It plays with mouse and keyboard or a controller, every control can be rebound, and progress saves in the browser; the developer recommends desktop in fullscreen. The developer, Somewhat Incognito, says it was built in Godot with Claude Code, which wrote nearly all of the code and much of the pixel art and tooling, while the design, playtesting and music are the developer's. Free in the browser on itch.io and on the game's own site; it was entered in AI Browser Game Jam 5 and is listed as in development, with updates almost daily.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe itch.io page says Hollowlight was built in Godot with Claude Code: AI wrote nearly all of the code and much of the pixel art and tooling, while the design, playtesting and music are by the developer. The jam answer adds that Claude Code wrote nearly all of the code in Godot 4, the pixel-art generators and much of the art, the in-game text, the tests and the tooling. Which Claude model was used is not stated.
- DeveloperAI Browser Game Jam 5 submission, AI Tools Used: “Claude Code (Anthropic Claude) - wrote nearly all of the code in Godot 4, the pixel-art generators and much of the art, the in-game text, tests and tooling. Design direction, playtesting and the music are by the developer.” — itch.io (AI Browser Game Jam 5, hosted by Focaccai)
Built in Godot 4 for AI Browser Game Jam 5. Claude Code wrote nearly all of the code, the generators that make the pixel art, much of the art itself, the in-game text, the tests and the tooling; the developer directed the design, playtested and made the music. The page says the game is updated almost daily and asks for feedback in the comments or on Discord.

“Built in Godot with Claude Code: AI wrote nearly all of the code and much of the pixel art and tooling; design, playtesting and music by the developer.”Verification notes: Gameplay, controls and AI use from the developer's itch.io page (published 21 Oct 2026, 00:38 UTC; updated 4 Nov 2026, 22:43 UTC; status In development; HTML5; genre Action, Survival; made with Godot) and the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page, both re-read on 5 Nov 2026. The developer name is from the page (“Made by Somewhat Incognito”); the itch.io account is hollowlightgame. “Nearly all of the code” is the developer's wording; no percentage is given, so no AI code share is recorded. hollowlightgame.com, linked from the itch.io page, serves a Godot web build (observed). The online leaderboard is mentioned on the page; the itch.io build, including its Godot data file, makes no calls to AI services. The English language field, the keyboard, mouse and Xbox controller inputs, the configurable controls and the itch.io rating of 3.0 (2 ratings) are from the itch.io page. Submissions closed on 31 Oct 2026 and voting runs until 7 Nov 2026 (04:00 UTC), so no placement is recorded. On 5 Nov the submission page showed 3 jam ratings (observed; jam votes, not players or reviews, so not recorded as a metric). itch.io shows no download count. The game was not played.
