About Keeper's Light
A top-down lighthouse defense game in pixel art. The old keeper is gone, and every night from 12 to 6 AM you turn the beam of a lighthouse on a dark, rocky coast. Ships need your light to find the harbor or they drift onto the rocks, and the things from the deep that grab them burn in it; with only one beam, every second is a choice about who to save. You point the beam with the mouse and hold the button to focus it into a narrower, longer ray that burns three times as hard and speeds up the ships inside it. At dawn you spend your gold on lenses, harbor upgrades and defenses, and blow up rocks with dynamite. Each night the coast grows and the town with it, new dangers arrive (whirlpools, a sea beast, leviathans), and later you run up to three lighthouses at once, switching between them like security cameras. Old Hobb, the grumpy former keeper, talks you through it over the radio, and there are 36 achievements and an old radio with jazz stations. The developer, Milchinien, says design and direction are their own and that all code, all pixel art, the sound effects and the radio music were written with Claude in Claude Code. Free in the browser on itch.io, best on a desktop with a mouse; it was entered in AI Browser Game Jam 5.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe “How AI was used” section of the itch.io page says design and direction are by milchinien and that all code, all pixel art, the sound effects and the radio music were written with Claude (Anthropic) in Claude Code. The world, the town, the monsters and Old Hobb's portrait are drawn by code, and the six jazz songs are composed as code and played by synthesizers in the browser, with no external art or audio files. The developer made the design decisions, picked the look and playtested: “the AI built it”. The jam submission names the model and front end: “I used Claude Opus 5.5 inside of T3 Code”.

Made for AI Browser Game Jam 5 (theme: Torch; the page calls a lighthouse “the torch of the sea”). The developer set the design, picked the look and playtested; Claude in Claude Code wrote all the code and made all the pixel art, the sound effects and the music. Everything is drawn by code, and the jazz songs are composed as code and played by synthesizers in the browser, so there are no external art or audio files. The only credited outside asset is the VT323 font (SIL Open Font License). The browser build is a single bundled JavaScript file drawing on a 2D canvas.

“All code, all pixel art, the sound effects and the radio music were written with Claude (Anthropic) in Claude Code.”Verification notes: AI use from the “How AI was used” section of the itch.io page and the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page, both re-read on 5 Nov 2026. The page says all code was written with Claude in Claude Code, so the AI code share is recorded as 100%; the jam answer adds the model (Claude Opus 5.5) and the T3 Code front end. The itch.io AI disclosure ticks Code, Graphics, Sounds and Text. Publication (28 Oct 2026, 14:12 UTC) and last update (28 Oct 2026, 23:22 UTC) from the itch.io page. The page uses first-person wording but does not state the team size, so none is recorded. The developer's Last Ember was entered in the same jam. The sea monsters are scripted game behaviour; the bundled JavaScript makes no calls to AI services. Jam voting was still open on 5 Nov 2026 (5 ratings so far), so no placement is recorded; itch.io shows no public rating. The game was not played.
