About Last Grip
Last Grip is a free first-person physics climbing game for the browser. You control each hand separately, the left and right mouse buttons grabbing beams, pipes, bars and platforms as you climb a tower, and with timing and momentum you can swing, launch yourself, move between grips and save a bad fall with a well-timed grab. The higher you climb, the less stable the tower becomes: some grips weaken or break, and moving structures throw off your timing. There is a standard mode with checkpoints and a harder mode without them, personal completion stats, and a final sequence at the top; the developer asks players not to spoil the ending and to post their completion times in the comments. It plays with keyboard and mouse, and the page gives an average session of about half an hour. The developer, Spyrec, made it for a YouTube video: “LAST GRIP was created as part of a YouTube experiment where I gave GPT-6 Astra 24 hours to make a complete playable game.” The video calls the model ChatGPT Astra. The page says the project went through several different ideas and failed versions before settling on one climbing mechanic. Free on itch.io.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe itch.io page says the game was created as part of a YouTube experiment in which the developer gave GPT-6 Astra 24 hours to make a complete playable game, and that the project went through several different ideas and failed versions first. The video on the developer's channel (26 Sep 2026) is titled “Can ChatGPT Astra Make a Game Worth Playing in 24 Hours?”, and its description says the developer gave ChatGPT Astra 24 hours to make a game to be released publicly. Neither source says how much of the code the AI wrote or what the developer did by hand.

Made by ChatGPT (the model is named GPT-6 Astra) within a 24-hour limit set for the developer's YouTube experiment, per the itch.io page and the video. The browser build is a single bundled script that includes three.js and the Rapier physics engine (observed).

“LAST GRIP was created as part of a YouTube experiment where I gave GPT-6 Astra 24 hours to make a complete playable game.”Verification notes: AI use from the itch.io page and the developer's YouTube video, both read on 6 Nov 2026 (the video's title, date and description through YouTube's page data; the video itself was not watched). The page names the model “GPT-6 Astra”; the video's title and description call it “ChatGPT Astra” and “ChatGPT 6 Astra”, so the tool is recorded as ChatGPT. The sources say the AI was given 24 hours to make a complete playable game but give no share of AI-written code and do not describe the workflow, so the evidence is medium. The itch.io page shows no publication date; the video of 26 Sep 2026 links it, so the game was public by then. Status, the Platformer genre, keyboard and mouse input, the half-hour average session and the AI disclosure (AI Assisted, Code) from the itch.io page. The build bundles three.js and Rapier (observed) and contacts no AI services. The video showed about 2,300 views on the channel page (observed; not a metric). Team size is not stated. The game was not played.
