About TUNAS: Last Archive
A single-player, third-person tactical shooter set in a fictional near-future rainforest that the developer says is inspired by Borneo. An autonomous industrial reclamation force is tearing down the region's last infrastructure, and one preservation facility holds the final records of a community's cultural heritage, ecological knowledge and scientific discoveries. You play the Commander of a three-person squad: you direct the Archivist's recovery work and position the Sentinel against hostile machines, choose which of five archives to recover and in what order, and defend the Archive Torch while it transmits them to safety. Transmitting in QUIET or FLARE mode trades speed against drawing more enemies, and at the end you evacuate by river with whatever was preserved; what you saved decides the future of the Tunas Basin community. It is played with keyboard and mouse. The developer, Ngong2000, describes it as an experiment that began with two independent implementations, one made with Codex and one with Claude Code; the jam submission credits Claude Code with the initial implementation of the chosen version (gameplay systems, environments, companion AI and UI) and later refinements, and Codex with further development, including combat, materials, audio integration, debugging and testing. ChatGPT helped with design, documentation and concept art, and the 3D assets were produced in Blender. The page says the community depicted is fictional and does not claim to represent the traditions of any particular Indigenous community. Made in Godot for AI Browser Game Jam 5 (theme: Torch); free to play in a desktop browser on itch.io, with free Windows and Linux downloads.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe jam submission credits Claude Code with the initial implementation of the selected game, including gameplay systems, environments, companion AI and UI, and with later refinements, and names the models as “One-shot: Sonnet 5.5; Further refinement: Sonnet 5.5 + Opus 5.5”. The itch.io page says the project began with two independent implementations, made with Codex and with Claude Code, and that the Claude Code-derived one was chosen and then refined through Claude Code, Codex and human-directed development. The companion AI here is the squad behaviour coded into the game, not a runtime AI service.
- Developeritch.io page, Development & AI Disclosure: “TUNAS: Last Archive was developed through an AI-assisted game development experiment, beginning with two independent implementations using Codex and Claude Code. The selected Claude Code-derived implementation was subsequently refined through Claude Code, Codex and human-directed development.” — itch.io
- OfficialJam rules: development must be heavily AI-assisted, with the majority of the game AI-generated. — itch.io (Focaccai)
The jam submission says Codex made an independent first implementation for comparison and then worked on the selected game, including combat, environments, materials, UI, audio integration, debugging and testing, and names the models as “GPT 6.1 Sol + GPT 6 Astra”.
Credited in the jam submission with game concept development, game design documentation, technical planning, prompt engineering and AI-generated concept art and visual references; the itch.io page says ChatGPT supported game design, documentation and concept-art development. The sources do not say that ChatGPT wrote any of the game's code.
An experiment that started with two independent AI-made implementations, one with Codex and one with Claude Code. The Claude Code version (gameplay systems, environments, companion AI and UI) was chosen and refined with Claude Code and Codex, which took on combat, materials, audio integration, debugging and testing, while the developer made the design decisions, gave feedback, tested and did the final integration. ChatGPT helped with concept, design documents, planning and concept art; the 3D assets were produced in Blender and the game was built in Godot. The page says AI assistance contributed to programming, visuals, narrative and audio, and that further tool, asset, music and font credits are in the game.

“Claude Code: Initial implementation of the selected game, including gameplay systems, environments, companion AI, UI, and subsequent refinements.”Verification notes: Setting, mission, controls and AI use from the developer's itch.io page (published 31 Oct 2026, 02:20 UTC; status Released; HTML5, Windows and Linux; made with Godot) and the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page, both re-read on 5 Nov 2026. The itch.io page calls the project “an AI-assisted game development experiment” with human-directed development; the jam answer is explicit that Claude Code did the initial implementation and later refinements and Codex further development, so both are recorded, with Claude Code as primary because its implementation was the one chosen. Model names are quoted as the developer writes them. The sources give no code share, so no AI code share is recorded. The setting is described by the developer as an original fictional community inspired by Borneo; no rights holder's IP is used, so no IP notice is recorded. Third-party tool, asset, music and font credits are said to be in the game; they were not checked. The game was submitted 23 minutes before the 31 Oct 2026, 03:00 UTC deadline; voting was still in progress on 5 Nov 2026 (it ends on 7 Nov, 04:00 UTC), so no placement is recorded. On 5 Nov the submission page showed 8 jam ratings (observed; jam votes, not players or reviews, so not recorded as a metric). The web build, including the Godot data pack, was checked for calls to AI services and none were found; the Windows and Linux downloads were not checked. Team size and location are not stated. itch.io shows no public rating and no download count. We did not play the game.
