About Othello Variants
A browser board game with seven versions of Othello: the standard 8×8 game, a quick 6×6 board of about 30 moves, a roomy 10×10 board, Anti-Othello (the player with the fewest discs wins), Blocked Squares with random walls, a cross-shaped board with the corners cut off, and Parallel, which uses a different starting position. You can play two players on one screen or against a computer opponent at five levels (Random, Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert), as Black, White or a random side. Legal moves are highlighted, the last move is marked, and there are undo, hints, restart and pause, a reduced-motion option and win records per variant saved in the browser. The developer, Kawalight Studio, says the game was designed and built with Claude (Claude Code, several AI agents working in parallel), that all code and text are AI-generated, and that the graphics are drawn in code and the sound is generated procedurally, with no external assets. Free in the browser on itch.io, with mouse, touch and keyboard controls; it was entered in AI Browser Game Jam 5.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe AI disclosure on the itch.io page says the game was designed and built with Claude (Claude Code, several AI agents working in parallel) and that all code and text are AI-generated; all graphics are drawn in code and all sound is generated procedurally, with no external assets. The jam submission's AI Tools Used answer reads: “Claude Anthropic (Sonnet 5.5).”
- DeveloperAI Browser Game Jam 5 submission, AI Tools Used: “Claude Anthropic (Sonnet 5.5).” — itch.io (AI Browser Game Jam 5, hosted by Focaccai)
Made for AI Browser Game Jam 5. Per the itch.io page, Claude in Claude Code, running several agents in parallel, designed and built the game and generated all of its code and text; the graphics are drawn in code and the sound is procedural, with no external assets. The computer opponent's five levels are ordinary scripted game logic. The browser build is plain JavaScript modules with no engine or bundler (observed).

“All code and text are AI-generated.”Verification notes: AI use from the AI disclosure on the itch.io page and the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page, both re-read on 5 Nov 2026. The page says all code is AI-generated, so the AI code share is recorded as 100%; the jam answer names the model (Sonnet 5.5). The itch.io AI disclosure ticks Code and Text. Publication (21 Oct 2026, 23:07 UTC) and last update (21 Oct 2026, 23:49 UTC) from the itch.io page. The “AI” opponent levels are scripted game logic, not generative AI; the build's JavaScript modules make no calls to AI services. The trademark marking comes from the World Othello Federation's English rules page (read 5 Nov 2026). Kawalight Studio's other jam entry credits design, code and art to a person named Basyid, but this page names no one, so no team size or member is recorded. Jam voting was still open on 5 Nov 2026 (1 rating so far), so no placement is recorded; itch.io shows no public rating. The game was not played.
