About Slingshot: Escape the solar system
An orbital-mechanics game about escaping the solar system with a tiny pixel-art rocket and a limited fuel tank. One input fires a prograde burn and you rotate the ship; the Sun, planets and moons all pull on you at once, so the skill is burning at the low point of an orbit and chaining flybys of Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn to reach escape velocity. Runs earn XP for ship technologies, there are more than 100 achievements, and beyond the solar system lie 12 star destinations, each unlocking its own song in an in-game music player called Spacify. Romain Simon made it alone for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 in vanilla JavaScript with no image files, drawing every pixel in code. The official jam submission names Claude Code; the jam required at least 90% AI-written code; the developer's studio, indiega.me, says its games are made with coding agents; and the developer's Steam AI disclosure says the whole game, including code, visuals, sound effects and soundtracks, was built with AI and “crafted with care by a real human”. The browser version is free; the Steam version (US$3.99, Windows, macOS and Linux) came out on 11 Oct 2026.

How it was built
VerifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. The developer's Steam AI disclosure says the game was built entirely with AI, including code, visuals, sound effects and soundtracks, and the studio says its games are made with coding agents; neither names a tool, and which tools made the art and music is not stated.

Made solo for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 in vanilla JavaScript on HTML5 Canvas with no runtime dependencies, per the studio page; the solar system is defined in a single JavaScript file and there are no image files, sprite sheets or 3D models, so everything is drawn in code. The developer says the physics uses Velocity Verlet integration with 4 ms substeps. The in-game changelog shows near-daily updates through April 2026, then Steam work later in the year.

“This game was build entirely using Artificial Intelligence, including code, visual, sound effects and soundtracks. It was however crafted with care by a real human.”Verification notes: AI use from three developer sources: the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (Claude Code; submitted 29 Apr 2026; final rank 59 of 945 entries, no award), the developer-written AI disclosure on the Steam page, and the studio site's footer about coding agents; rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. “Made solo by Romain Simon” and the build details are from the studio page indiega.me/slingshot. Release dates: the in-game changelog marks the first public release on 3 April and “Game is now on Steam” on 15 April, linking the store page (no year is shown in the changelog; the studio page dates the game “APR 2026”, and the jam only accepted games made from 1 April 2026); the Steam release date (11 Oct 2026), price, platforms and language are from the Steam store API. Steam showed no user reviews on 3 Nov 2026, so no review metric is recorded. The page and its scripts were checked for calls to AI services and none were found; the only outside calls are analytics and the Steam wishlist link. The jam page's widget counter showed 4,998 plays and 20,538 portal transfers on 3 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as metrics); the 5 Oct changelog says external game transfers were later removed.

- Number of ship technologies
- The studio page lists 16 technologies to unlock with XP; the Steam description says 12. The in-game changelog adds 4 technologies that unlock after the ending to an original tree of 12, which may explain the gap. (indiega.me (Romain Simon), Steam, Romain Simon (indiega.me))
