About Batcula

Batcula is a free pixel-art arcade game about a bat flying through Transylvania and the Carpathians, collecting blood droplets and feeding on villagers to survive. The developer describes the starting idea as a “2d flappy bird pixel style video game”, and the subtitle calls it a flappy gothic arcade. The developer added levels, parallax backgrounds, obstacles, villager behaviour, scoring and music over several days of iteration, and says there are hidden mechanics to find; the game's scripts include Easy, Classic and Nosferatu difficulties and an Endless mode. The developer, who posts as u/Independent-Beach106, calls it a first game made with zero coding experience, entirely with AI: ChatGPT drew concept screenshots, Claude Code built the game from them, ChatGPT also rendered the backgrounds and the villagers' animation frames, and Suno made the music. It plays in the browser at batcula.com; in English.

How it was built

Partially verified

In a post on r/aigamedev (20 Sep 2026, UTC), a repost with gameplay footage, the developer calls Batcula a first game “created entirely with AI with ZERO coding/development experience (all 100% vibe coding)”, made “solely through ChatGPT and Claude Code ( with some minor image cropping using Figma) + Suno for Music”. ChatGPT generated concept screenshots from the developer's idea, and the developer then “asked Claude Code to build me a video game based on the screenshots provided by ChatGPT”; levels, backgrounds, obstacles, villager logic and scoring were added over several days. The parallax backgrounds and the villagers' animation frames were rendered with ChatGPT, and hosting and deployment were a step-by-step walkthrough with Claude.

Development approach

Per the developer, ChatGPT produced concept screenshots and then the art (backgrounds separated into parallax layers, villager animation frames rendered a few at a time), Claude Code wrote the game from those screenshots and kept extending it, Suno made the music, and Figma was used for minor cropping. The site is plain JavaScript drawing to a canvas, with a service worker and code for a Capacitor native wrapper; no app-store version was found.

— Independent-Beach106, REPOST: My first game ever 100% with AI from the ground up! Batcula: the Flappy Gothic Arcade (r/aigamedev)

Verification notes: AI use from the developer's post on r/aigamedev by u/Independent-Beach106 (20 Sep 2026, 16:50 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive; the post is a repost made to add gameplay footage. The site batcula.com and its scripts were checked on 5 Nov 2026: plain JavaScript on a canvas, with Easy, Classic, Nosferatu and Endless modes defined in the scripts, and no calls to AI services or other network requests from the game code. The site names no developer; the tie rests on the post linking batcula.com in the first person. “100% vibe coding” is the developer's description of the whole project, which also used ChatGPT, Suno and Figma, so no AI code share is recorded. The post describes the developer's original prompt (a feeding minigame such as tapping quickly or a circular motion); how feeding plays in the released game was not confirmed. The developer compares the game to Flappy Bird; the game uses no name or assets from it that we saw, so no IP notice is recorded. The release date is not stated. Code for a Capacitor wrapper suggests app builds may be planned; none was found. Team size and location are not stated. The game was not played.

Development history

  1. The developer reposts Batcula on r/aigamedev with gameplay footage, calling it a first game made 100% with AI.
