About Hard Road
A driving simulator in the browser set on a cold, deserted island in a post-apocalyptic Alaska, with 226 km of road and nobody else on it. There are no goals and no traffic: you drive at your own pace on tarmac, gravel and dirt, through rain and snow, by day and by night, from a chase, bumper, cockpit, top-down or free camera. The truck has a horn, lights, an engine switch, a cruise limiter and a trailer you can hitch and unhitch, and you can flip it upright or respawn; saves can be exported and imported. The page's changelog (version 1.4.2 on 5 Nov 2026) lists added forests, grass and photographed skies. The jam entry described an earlier concept, surviving the road in a scavenger's Lada by towing wrecks for scrap and trading up parts, and named Hard Truck Apocalypse and Drive Beyond Horizons as the entrant's favourite games; the current page describes the goal-free drive instead. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Cursor as the tool. It finished 360th of 945 entries. Free in the browser; it needs a browser with WebGPU.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Cursor as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. No devlog describes how Cursor was used or which model ran it, and the submission covers the jam version only; the game has been updated since the jam.
- OfficialJam rule 3: at least 90% of the code has to be written by AI. — Vibe Jam (Pieter Levels)
Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 with Cursor named as the tool. The current version runs on Three.js with WebGPU, with a physics module, a procedurally built island, weather and ocean modules and loaded vehicle parts; the jam answer gave the engine as “Vanilla JS and CanvasJS”.

Verification notes: Tool (Cursor), engine (“Vanilla JS and CanvasJS”), genre (Simulation), pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer (No), mobile (Yes) and portal (No) flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 7 Apr 2026, 17:50 UTC; final rank 360 of 945 entries, no award), re-read on 5 Nov 2026; rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. The current game differs from the jam pitch: the page now describes a goal-free drive and says it is built with three.js and WebGPU, and the scavenging, fuel and scrap systems of the pitch were not found in its code, so the engine is recorded from the live page. Developer: the jam data gives the X handle cipriangb (display name Ciprian Popescu, location Dublin, Ireland), whose profile bio reads “Owner of getbutterfly.com”; the game page credits getButterfly. Team size is not stated. Setting, road length, cameras and controls from the game page; the game was not played. The game's scripts were checked and make no calls to AI services. Although the entrant answered Yes for mobile, the page needs WebGPU and shows keyboard and mouse controls only, so the listing is marked as browser only. The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 7 Apr 2026.
