About Lunar Mass
A 3D building and simulation game in the browser, set in a crater on the Moon. On foot you mine voxels of regolith, ice and ore, refine metal, place solar arrays, batteries, excavators, refineries and rails, connect them with power cables and charge a pulse bank, then fire payloads from a mass driver, with a predicted trajectory showing exit speed, orbit and impact. Fabricated bots help extend the railhead, and a surveyor's map lets you travel across the surface. The entrant pitches it as building the megastructure with an arsenal of bots while creating new lunar craters along the way, and says it was a way to learn about a lunar mass driver that the entrant hopes to turn into a much more realistic simulation later. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Cursor as the tool, and the game's menu also credits Codex. It finished 637th of 945 entries. Free, for desktop browsers; the developer has kept working on it since the jam.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Cursor as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. The game's main menu adds a “Built with” list of Codex, Cursor, Quiver, Tripo, Meshy and GPT Image, and a note that work on the mechanics after the jam is “still 90%+ AI written”. Which model ran in Cursor is not stated.

- DeveloperMain menu: “I've kept working on the game mechanics (still 90%+ AI written) because I'm excited about the game.” — Logan Van Wagoner
Listed first in the “Built with” strip on the game's main menu; what Codex did is not stated.
Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 on Three.js with Cursor named as the tool; the main menu also credits Codex, Quiver, Tripo, Meshy and GPT Image (Tripo and Meshy are AI 3D-model generators). A note on the menu says the bots had bugs at the deadline that kept them from working properly for scaling, and that the mechanics have kept changing since, still more than 90% AI-written.

“I've kept working on the game mechanics (still 90%+ AI written) because I'm excited about the game.”Verification notes: Tool (Cursor), engine (ThreeJS), genre (“Adventure, Strategy, Simulation”), pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer (No), mobile (No) and portal (Yes) flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 1 May 2026, 11:44 UTC, on the deadline day; final rank 637 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. The “Built with” list and the developer's note come from the game's main menu, re-read on 5 Nov 2026; the 90% figure in the note is about post-jam work and the jam rule, so no exact AI share is recorded. Developer: the menu credits Logan Van Wagoner with a link to x.com/lgvw3, the handle in the jam data (display name Logan, location Utah, USA, linking logan-vw.vercel.app, a portfolio under the same name); team size is not stated. The inspiration answer also mentions wanting to build a lunar mass driver with a real company's team one day; that is not repeated here. Mining, buildings, power, launches, bots and the map come from the game's controls and interface text; the leaderboard is marked “Coming soon”. The game was not played through. The script talks only to the jam widget; no calls to AI services were found (checked 5 Nov 2026). The jam page's widget counter showed 65 plays for lunar-mass.vercel.app on 5 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as a metric). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 1 May 2026.
