About On The Edge | Civil Deputy Simulator
On The Edge | Civil Deputy Simulator is a free political management game. In the developer's words it is a simple political management simulator with a twist, in which an ordinary person would inevitably make the wrong choices. You answer events by choosing a response within a time limit, and each choice moves your stats; some events run over several turns, programmes you adopt affect the stats every turn, and there are multiple endings. It plays in the browser and as downloads for Windows and Android. Instead of a description, the itch.io page carries the developer's diary of making it: 4rtemon had struggled for years to finish any idea and had tried AI twice before without success; on this third attempt, using Codex with “Sol 6.1” connected to Unity through MCP, Codex first made a web prototype, then moved it into Unity and connected the logic to the developer's UI, and later took on whole mechanics. The developer kept the concept, gameplay, balancing and UI design, fixed some issues by hand, and says the game was ready within two weeks. The page lists the code, the illustrations and icons, the music (made with Suno), the event texts and their translations as AI-made, and the developer says the known flaws, such as repetition in longer campaigns, will not be fixed. Released on itch.io on 1 Nov 2026.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe developer's diary on the itch.io page: “Using Codex with Sol 6.1 I set up MCP for Unity and began creating. Initially used as a prototyping tool it transformed into a coworker to whom I could delegate whole mechanics.” Codex generated an HTML prototype from the idea, then, through MCP, moved it into Unity and connected the logic to the developer's UI layout; it later added mechanics such as multi-turn events and per-turn programmes, and fixed the hard-coded logic it had written as the project grew. Some details, such as the stat previews during response selection, it got wrong in three attempts, and the developer fixed these and other technical issues by hand. The page's credits list Code and UI connections with game logic as AI-made, alongside the illustrations and icons, the event and response texts and their translations, and the music, made with Suno (a tool we do not track). “Sol 6.1” is quoted as written. How much of the code was written by hand is not stated.
Per the developer's diary, Codex built a web prototype from the idea, then worked inside Unity through an MCP connection, porting the prototype, wiring the logic to the UI layout the developer had designed and implementing further mechanics, while the developer designed the concept, gameplay mechanics and balancing and fixed some issues by hand. Human-made, per the page: the concept and gameplay mechanics, the UI design, the main-menu videos (made in Blender with a human model and animations from Mixamo and some textures and models from the BlenderKit add-on), the sounds (from Pixabay) and the page text. AI-made: the code, the UI connections with the game logic, the illustrations and icons, the music (with Suno), and the event and response texts and translations.

“Initially used as a prototyping tool it transformed into a coworker to whom I could delegate whole mechanics. One thing I’m proud of, and won’t pretend otherwise, is never delegating ideas themselves.”Verification notes: Development account, credits and platforms from the developer's itch.io page (published 1 Nov 2026, 20:04 UTC; status Released; HTML5, Windows and Android; made with Unity; tags include Economy, Multiple Endings and Text based; AI disclosure ticks AI Assisted, Code, Graphics, Sounds and Text), re-read on 6 Nov 2026. The page has no conventional game description; the gameplay summary is drawn from the developer's diary (“time-limited choice selection stats influencing game”, multi-turn events, programmes that affect stats each turn) and the tags. “Sol 6.1” is the developer's wording for the model used with Codex; we could not identify it and quote it as written. The developer writes in the first person but does not say whether anyone else worked on the game, so team size is not recorded; “ready within 2 weeks” is recorded as the development time. The page mentions translations without listing languages; the web build's data contains English and Russian game text, and other languages were not checked. The Unity web build's data was checked for calls to AI services and none were found. itch.io shows no rating and no download count. Location is not stated. We did not play the game.
