About Kara and the Primal Torch
A 2D pixel-art platformer in the browser. Once every thousand years an eclipse swallows the moon and the Black Night falls; the Shadow Cult has raided Kara's camp and put out every fire of her tribe except the Primal Torch, a living ember that floats at her side. It is her weapon and her only light: hold fire and it homes in on the nearest enemy, curving through the air, but firing drains the flame and shrinks its light, which grows back when you let go. You cross the fallen camp, the Ancestral Sands and the Sleeping Volcano, survive vulture flocks, moth swarms and cult ambushes, and face three guardians; secret chambers, urns and nine captive allies are hidden off the main path, and freeing all nine unlocks the true ending. Bonfires act as checkpoints, and besides the story in Arcade mode there is a Time Attack mode. It plays with keyboard, mouse, gamepad or touch (phones in landscape). The developer, Egobiian, directed and curated; Claude Code wrote all of the code, scenes, stage layouts and the design document as a small team of specialised agents, and also drove PixelLab for the art and locally run models for the music and sound. Made in Godot 4.7 for AI Browser Game Jam 5 (theme: Torch), it is free in the browser on itch.io and listed as in development.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe jam submission says Claude Code wrote all the code, scenes and stage layouts and the design document, working with a team of project agents for gameplay, UI, level design, art direction, sound direction and commits. It also built an automatic check that every stage can be finished and that everything worth taking can be reached, and a bot that plays the whole game to test it before each release. Every sprite, animation, tileset, background, UI image and the pixel font were made with PixelLab through its MCP server; the sound effects with MOSS-SoundEffect v2.0 and the music with ACE-Step 1.5, both run locally; all three were driven from Claude Code. The itch.io page says almost everything in the game was generated with AI, directed and curated by the developer. Which Claude model was used is not stated.
- Developeritch.io page, How it was made: “Code, stages and the design document: Claude Code by Anthropic, working as a small team of specialised agents (gameplay, interface, level design, pixel art, sound, commits)”. — itch.io
- OfficialJam rules: development must be heavily AI-assisted, with the majority of the game AI-generated; AI may be used for anything. — itch.io (Focaccai)
Directed and curated by the developer, with Claude Code working as a set of specialised project agents (gameplay, interface, level design, pixel art, sound and commits). Claude Code also drove the asset tools: PixelLab for all graphics and the pixel font, MOSS-SoundEffect v2.0 for sound effects and ACE-Step 1.5 for the music. An automatic check confirms every stage can be finished with no impossible jump or trap, and a scripted bot plays the whole game before each release. Exported from Godot 4.7 for the web. The itch.io page lists the code under the MIT licence and the assets under CC BY 4.0, but links no source repository. A devlog, How a team of AIs built Kara and the Primal Torch, describes the process.

“Almost everything in the game was generated with AI, directed and curated by Egobiian”Verification notes: Story, mechanics, modes, controls, licences and AI usage from the developer's itch.io page (published 20 Oct 2026, 13:40 UTC; updated 25 Oct 2026; status In development; HTML5; genre Platformer, Action; language English) and the AI Tools Used answer on the official AI Browser Game Jam 5 submission page, both re-read on 4 Nov 2026. The page lists six devlog posts from 20 to 25 Oct 2026; we did not read the process devlog, so nothing in this record rests on it. The 100% AI code share reflects the jam answer's “all the code”. Team size is not stated; the page names only Egobiian as director and curator. Kara's pronouns follow the game's own text. Platformer has no genre slug here, so the game is filed under Action. The jam allows AI for anything and requires the majority of each game to be AI-generated; voting was still in progress on 4 Nov 2026 (it ends on 7 Nov), so no placement is recorded; the submission page showed 4 jam ratings (observed; not recorded as a metric). The itch.io rating of 4.0 from one rating was observed on 4 Nov 2026. The Godot build was checked for calls to AI services and none were found. We did not play the game.

Developeritch.ioAI Browser Game Jam 5 submissions close; the jam requires heavily AI-assisted games playable free in the browser. Voting was still in progress on 4 Nov 2026.
