About Pebble & Puffless

A short puzzle-platformer in the browser. Pebble, a rescue robot from Cat Planet, finds the cat Puffless locked in a secret lab. The two ride together, split up when the cat fits where the robot can't, blow walls with mines, sneak past rats and turrets, and finally fly a jet-heeled escape through the hangar to the teleport home. Following the jam's restriction, the only inputs are moving (arrows or WASD) and jumping (Space): Pebble's taser fires on its own when an enemy comes close, the shield goes up under fire, items are picked up by touching them and used by walking where they apply, doors open with Up, and the settings are a room you walk through. You can try to beat your best time, in six languages. The developer, Tatoshi, says the whole game was built by AI agents, with Tatoshi doing the idea, game design and direction and playtesting every build: Claude Opus 5.5 led the project (design docs, gameplay, physics, levels, animation, coordination and all 3D work), and GPT-6.1 Sol took large, well-specified chunks in parallel (validators, data, tests, UI and concept art). The in-game credits say it was made in seven days. Made for Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1 (theme Cat and Robot), where it ranked 22nd of 36. Free in the browser on itch.io.

The developer's jam answer: “The whole game was built by AI agents; me (Tatoshi) did the idea, game design and direction, and playtested every build. Claude Opus 5.5 ran the project as lead: design docs, gameplay, physics, levels, animation, coordination, and all 3D work.” It adds that “GPT-6.1 Sol took large, well-specified chunks in parallel: validators, data, tests, UI, concept art.” The in-game credits list Tatoshi for idea, game design and lead; Claude Opus 5.5 for direction, code and coordination and for 3D models, animation and renders; GPT-6.1 Sol for code; Claude Sonnet 5.5 for reviews and playtests; and both models for music. The answer does not say which apps or agents ran the models (chat apps, Claude Code or others).

Development approach

Made in seven days for Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1 with Phaser 3, Vite and Blender (per the in-game credits). The developer directed and playtested; Claude Opus 5.5 led the work, including gameplay, physics, levels, animation and the 3D models rendered for the game, while GPT-6.1 Sol wrote validators, data, tests and the interface and drew concept art, and Claude Sonnet 5.5 reviewed and playtested. The music is credited to both models. No AI runs in the game.

Verification notes: AI use from the developer's answer on the official Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1 submission page and the in-game credits in the HTML5 build's script; story, controls and AI disclosure from the itch.io page; all re-read on 6 Nov 2026. The answer and the credits split the work slightly differently (the answer gives gameplay and physics to Claude Opus 5.5 and validators, data, tests and UI to GPT-6.1 Sol; the credits list Claude Opus 5.5 under “Direction, code and coordination” and GPT-6.1 Sol under “Code”); both say the code was written by AI models, so no AI code share is recorded. GPT-6.1 Sol is named as the developer writes it; which app ran it is not stated, so no separate tool is recorded for it. The jam's own rule (“AI must be part of the build”) is not code-specific. Developer: Tatoshi is a handle; the answer is written in the first person, the team list names only Tatoshi, and in a comment the developer calls it their first game and first game jam. Team size is recorded as one. Languages: the page says “Six languages”, and the build carries English, Russian, Spanish, German, French and Simplified Chinese text. Publication (8 Oct 2026, 19:34 UTC) and last update (12 Oct 2026, 12:56 UTC) from the itch.io page; the submission page said it was submitted 11 hours and 9 minutes before the 9 Oct, 07:00 UTC deadline. Jam results (11 ratings): 22nd overall of 36 (3.515), 17th in Polish, 20th in Use of AI, 24th in Fun. The game's script was checked: the only mentions of AI models are the credits, and there are no calls to AI services. itch.io shows no public rating and no download count. The game was not played.
