SLOP CITY
A free, open-source first-person 3D city with 40 kinds of jobs, salvage, a pawn shop, a subway and the developer's TikTok videos on its billboards. Created with Codex, per the developer.
Official site slopcity.org, verified Nov 3, 2026. Linked as “Play: SLOPCITY.org” in the README of the developer's repository hollingsworthd/SLOP_CITY.
Rights holder / original work: The Matrix (Warner Bros.) for the Agent Smith and woman-in-red characters; separate rights holders of the bundled media, fonts and trademarks
The game README says the city has “1,984 Agent Smiths and 42 women in red” and white-rabbit stencils; Agent Smith and the woman in the red dress are characters from The Matrix, which is our identification, as the README does not name the film. The repository's notice says the AGPL covers only original program code and does not relicense the bundled TikTok videos, photographs, slideshow music, other recordings, fonts, artwork, branding or trademarks, and that their inclusion does not grant rights to redistribute them. No source shows a licence from Warner Bros. (GitHub (hollingsworthd))
VibeGameDB lists this game only to document that it was made with AI coding tools. We do not host it, we do not represent the rights holder, and listing it does not mean it is licensed.

About SLOP CITY
SLOP CITY is a free first-person 3D city game in the browser, built in Unity and released as open source under the GNU AGPL. The developer calls it an autobiographical first-person lounge that embeds the developer's own TikTok posts, which play on video billboards around the city. You leave your home, open doors and take elevators through 59 buildings, ride a six-stop automatic subway or one of eight driveable cars, and take contracts from 40 job types, such as deliveries, repairs, recycling, water rounds and signal service, for credits and XP. Dusty objects can be cleaned, ordinary props and wall panels salvaged into a bag, and items sold or bought back at a pawn shop. The streets are filled, per the source README, with 1,984 Agent Smiths and 42 women in red (see the IP note). It plays with keyboard and mouse or two-thumb touch controls; progress saves in the browser. The developer posted it on Hacker News as a Show HN and says the game was created with Codex Astra and Astra subagents; it also promotes the developer's podcast app. The source repository invites players to fork it and sync posts from other social media.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe developer's Show HN post says: “I created this game with Codex Astra and Astra subagents. It went remarkably well.” The model name is quoted as the developer gives it. No source gives a share of the code or describes how the work was split; the game README's release notes are written about the developer (“Daniel clarified…”), and the README says verification and publication details are recorded in the workspace file AGENTS.md.
A Unity 6.3 LTS project (editor 6000.3.26f1) with Mac and WebGL builds. Per the game README, the city keeps a stable registry of residents but only simulates and renders those nearby; release notes record automated checks of every building, floor, elevator and door before each publication, and the browser build's memory use. The game README says the original scanned maps are preserved, and the repository's NOTICE.md says the brand font is a renamed subset of Noto Sans CJK JP Bold (SIL Open Font License). The developer encourages players to download the code and ask Codex or another LLM to sync posts from any social media source.

“I created this game with Codex Astra and Astra subagents. It went remarkably well.”Verification notes: The AI claim is one sentence in the developer's Show HN post of 15 Oct 2026: “I created this game with Codex Astra and Astra subagents.” Codex is recorded as the tool; the repository README names no AI tool. Gameplay, jobs, residents, subway, cars, controls and saving come from the repository README and the game README (source version 1.0.1), read through raw.githubusercontent.com on 4 Nov 2026; GitHub's API was not reachable, so commit dates and stars are unchecked. The site slopcity.org answered on 4 Nov 2026 but needs JavaScript to start the WebGL build, so the game was not played; its script loads the developer's video playlists and makes no calls to AI services. The README records earlier public versions from 11–13 Oct 2026 (v0.9.0 to v0.11.5); the earliest public build date is not confirmed, so no release date is recorded. Copyright holder and trademarks from the repository's NOTICE.md; the link between Machine Publishers, the GitHub account hollingsworthd and the Hacker News account logn rests on the Show HN post linking the repository. The developer's name appears in the README only as “Daniel”. Location is not stated.
