About Squadron X
A cockpit-view dogfighting game in the browser. You fly a starfighter through a mission campaign that ranges from a training run and an asteroid-belt ambush to canyon runs, ice and lava worlds, a city siege and a reactor breach, with video briefings from a mission controller, best times per mission and a multiplayer mode with voice chat. The page describes the ship as an X-wing, a name from Star Wars; this is an unofficial game, and no licence is mentioned. The developer, Daniel Farina, calls it a spiritual successor to xpilot. The jam pitch, under the name Quadron X, describes a 15-mission campaign with a voice-acted story, a 360° procedural cockpit and more than 200 Grok-generated video messages, made from scratch on a Sunday; the video messages are pre-made files, not generated during play. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the submission lists Claude Code as the tool. It finished 41st of 945 entries and has been updated since the jam. Free, on desktop and mobile browsers.
How it was built
VerifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. No devlog describes how Claude Code was used or which model ran it, and the submission covers the jam version only, not the later updates. The pitch says the video messages were generated with Grok (xAI); they are pre-made video files that ship with the game.
- OfficialJam rule 3: at least 90% of the code has to be written by AI. — Vibe Jam (Pieter Levels)
Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 on Three.js, served as plain ES modules, with Claude Code named as the tool. Multiplayer runs through the developer's own WebSocket relay. The game kept being updated after the jam: the live build's stamp is dated 29 May 2026 and describes a multiplayer voice update.

“I saw a post of LevelsIO and it reminded me of last year when we started vibe coding. I wanted to create something better and connect with new people.”Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine, genre, pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer and mobile flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data, where the game is entered as “Quadron X” (submitted 28 Apr 2026; final rank 41 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. The live page is titled “Squadron X”. Developer: the game is on danielfarina.com's subdomain, and its credit link and the site both point to x.com/Daniel_Farinax (display name Dan, location Washington DC); the site is titled “Daniel Farina”. The jam data gives the handle as “daniel-farinax”. Team size is not stated. Mission names come from the game's level file, which lists 15 titled levels. The build stamp (build-info.js) shows a deploy on 29 May 2026 from a branch named “codex-visual-physics-upgrade”; the branch name alone does not show which tool was used after the jam, so no second tool is recorded. The briefing and radio videos are static MP4 files; the modules we checked talk only to the developer's multiplayer relay and the jam widget, with no calls to AI services. The game uses the Star Wars name “X-wing” for the player's ship without any stated licence. The jam page's widget counters showed 486 plays and 131 portal transfers on 3 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as metrics). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 28 Apr 2026. IP note: this is an unofficial fan game that uses Star Wars names (X-wing, TIE fighters, Star Destroyers, the Empire, Coruscant, kyber); no source shows a licence from Lucasfilm.
