About Sunset City: The Dark Tower

A 3D voxel parkour and stealth game in the browser, set in a procedurally generated port city at golden hour. The goal is to find out what lies at the centre of the Dark Tower. You climb rooftops, vault, hang and shimmy along ledges and ride ziplines; the bridges are heavily guarded, but there is always another way round. Stones grant special powers, chests hold throwing knives and potions, and you can throw knives at archers or kick guards off towers. It was made in Three.js for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; in the official submission the developer, Francesco Di Donato (didof), lists Claude Code as the tool and describes the game as a collection of Three.js ideas gathered over time, brought together in a game the developer would have loved to play as a child. It finished 8th of 945 entries. Free, with no install, on desktop and on phones held in landscape.

Development approach

Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 with Three.js, as a static site; the city is generated procedurally and textures are compressed and streamed in as you move, per the page's own code comments. The entrant names Claude Code as the tool and says the game brings together Three.js concepts collected over time.

“It’s a collection of Three.JS concepts that I’ve gathered over time and have finally been able to bring together in a game I would have loved to play as a child.”
— Francesco Di Donato, Vibe Jam 2026 games data (entrant submissions, final rank, awards)

Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine, genre, pitch and the mobile and portal flags from the entrant's own answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 28 Apr 2026; final rank 8 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. Developer name and location from didof.dev (“Francesco Di Donato”, “Based in Italy, working globally”), which links the game and tags it “Vibejam 2026”; the site does not say how the game was made. Gameplay from the game page's own help text. The page and its main script were checked for calls to AI services and none were found. The jam page's widget counter showed 2,280 plays and 3,340 portal transfers on 3 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as metrics). Team size and release date are not stated.
