About Ride Tales
An open-world driving game in the browser that is played on real-world streets. You search for a city, neighbourhood or address, or pick a spot on the map, and drive there through quests, races and hidden treasures; the missions include taxi runs, police patrols and getaways, catching ghosts in your headlights, parcel deliveries and duels with a rival. You can also build a race on real streets, set a time and send the link to a friend, and an optional email sign-in keeps a cloud save. The entrant says the game grew out of a love of travel and of open-world driving games like GTA, and brings exploring the real world into your home. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Claude Code as the tool. It finished 31st of 945 entries. Free, on desktop and mobile browsers.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. No devlog describes how Claude Code was used or which model ran it, and the submission covers the jam version only.
- OfficialJam rule 3: at least 90% of the code has to be written by AI. — Vibe Jam (Pieter Levels)
Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 on Three.js (with React Three Fiber), with Claude Code named as the tool. The streets come from OpenStreetMap data: the client loads OpenFreeMap vector tiles and uses OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service for place search. The game's own backend handles optional email sign-in, cloud saves and push notifications.

“I’ve always been passionate about travel and exploring new places. This game brings that experience directly to your home”Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine, genre, pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer (No) and mobile flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 30 Apr 2026; final rank 31 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. Developer: the game page names no one. The jam data gives the X handle @Aurelien_Gz (display name Aurelien; bio “Freelance product builder”, linking eko.lumaris.works); the Eko page on the same lumaris.works domain as the game says “by Aurélien” and links that X profile. The surname is not given, and team size is not stated. Mission types and the race builder come from text in the game's scripts. We fetched the main script and its chunks: mission and dialogue texts are written into the client, and the network calls go only to the game's own API (sign-in, saves, push notifications, a usage beacon), OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap services and the jam widget; no calls to AI services were found. The game's server cannot be inspected. The bundle also contains a face-tracking component from a 3D library it uses, but the game never asks for the camera. The jam page's widget counter showed 505 plays for ridetales.lumaris.works on 4 Nov 2026 (observed; plays are sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as a metric). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 30 Apr 2026.
