About SweatyPanzer
SweatyPanzer is a free online tank shooter. In Arena, an endless free-for-all, each kill repairs your tank and earns an upgrade card; in Clash, teams of four play rounds with one life each and buy upgrades between rounds. There are 13 tanks, among them the Panzer IV, T-34, Tiger and Sherman, five destructible battlefields whose terrain changes between matches, bots that play as a team, and a seasonal ranked ladder. The developer, posting on r/aigamedev as u/IamHuggos on launch day, says almost all of it was built with Claude Code over about 2,500 commits. It is free on Steam for Windows and in the browser at sweatypanzer.com, with cross-platform multiplayer.

How it was built
Partially verifiedThe developer says almost all of the game was built with Claude Code over about 2,500 commits, treating Claude “like a teammate with rules”: a CLAUDE.md in the repository sets how code, patch notes and copy are written, every bug fix comes with a test, and an MCP server that fetches bug reports from Discord helped automate the fixing. Which model was used is not stated.
- DeveloperSteam AI disclosure: generative AI tools were used for art, sound, in-game text and the store-page copy, all reviewed by the developer, and nothing is generated by AI during play. Code is not mentioned. — Steam
Built almost entirely with Claude Code over about 2,500 commits, per the developer, with written rules in CLAUDE.md, a test for every bug fix and an MCP server that pulls bug reports from Discord. The project began about two months before the Steam launch with what the developer calls a “Fable test”. Another Reddit user joined for two weeks to improve the bots, which fight as a team, hold positions and go for the flag. Per the Steam disclosure, art, sound, in-game text and store copy were also made with generative AI and reviewed by the developer. The same game runs in the browser and on Steam.

“How it was built: almost all of it with Claude Code. Around 2,500 commits, and the part that made it work was treating Claude like a teammate with rules.”Verification notes: The tool comes from a post by u/IamHuggos on r/aigamedev, read through an archived snapshot of the subreddit listing captured 25 Sep 2026 (the post's own snapshot failed to load); the original reddit.com URL was not checked. The post says the game went live on Steam that day and links this Steam app and sweatypanzer.com. The browser site's news panel links the same Steam app, and its Discord invite matches the one on the Steam page, so the site and the Steam game belong to the same developer; neither links the Reddit account. The site's embedding policy names an itch.io page called huggos, matching the Reddit username, but that page was not opened. The Steam AI disclosure covers art, sound, in-game text and store copy, not code; this does not contradict the post. The post mentions a second Redditor who worked on the bots for two weeks and says “how we write code”, so team size is left undisclosed. The earlier “Fable test” post was not found. Reviews & rankings
Browser WebGPU multiplayer tank battles: you level up with every kill, and the map changes every 6 minutes. On HN one person called it cool, while another died the moment they joined (the developer says they joined mid-round as a spectator). Requires WebGPU support.
