About Crit the Beat
A rhythm game in the browser with RPG elements, pitched as “RPG meets Guitar hero”. You tap the notes as they reach the bottom of the screen, in time with the music, to strike monsters (default keys S, D, K and L, which can be rebound); precise hits and combos raise your score, bosses appear in some stages, and a stats screen counts stages cleared, full combos and full perfects across 27 stage and difficulty combinations, alongside your level and experience points. You can play as a visitor with all content available, or sign in with Discord or Google to track progress and submit scores to the leaderboards. The main menu calls it an alpha build that “can be bugged”, warns that players can cheat and says progress might be reset. The entrant says Guitar Hero was a long-time favourite and the aim was to give it an RPG twist. It was made with Three.js for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Cursor as the tool. It finished 284th of 945 entries. Free in the browser.
