About 鉱石堀りゲーム

A free incremental mining game in the browser, in Japanese. You click ore blocks on a 5×5 grid (or let auto-mining do it), sell what you dig and spend the gold on upgrades; the deeper you go, the rarer the ores, through 12 kinds from stone to a “void crystal”. Craftable items suit different play styles and survive prestige resets, which trade your progress for permanent bonuses, and there are waves, bosses and an ending. The developer, who says they had only a little C, C++ and Python experience and none in game development, set out to see whether a game could be finished with nothing but natural-language instructions to Claude Code; the result is a single index.html of more than 2,400 lines. The developer says the design decisions and the number balancing stayed with the human. It is listed on itch.io as in development, with plans for more content toward a version 1.0.

How it was built

Verified

The developer's Zenn article says the goal was to see whether a game could be finished only by giving Claude Code natural-language instructions, and that the result was a mining game of more than 2,400 lines of HTML and JavaScript published on itch.io. The developer started from a short prompt that produced a working prototype, then added one feature per instruction, giving Claude Code a fixed list of things not to break (save compatibility, single-file layout, existing menus); Claude Code also found and fixed bugs such as a variable used before declaration and NaN values after a reset. Per the article, the human decided what to build and tuned the numbers by playtesting, and Claude Code turned that into code.

Development approach

Incremental prompting: one feature per instruction, implementation details left to Claude Code to match the existing code, balance described as goals rather than exact numbers and then tuned by playtesting. Everything lives in one index.html file.

Verification notes: AI use from the developer's Zenn article of 26 May 2026 (author minagi, account minagi_llm), which links the itch.io page, and from the itch.io AI disclosure (AI Assisted: Code). The itch.io account is named Kazaseo; the link from the article is the only tie between the two names. Solo: the article is written in the first person about one developer and is tagged 個人開発 (solo development). Game features from the article and the itch.io page; the game file is about 2,400 lines with lang=ja, and no other language option was found. The English name Ore Miner comes from the itch.io address and the game's save key, not from a title the developer uses. The itch.io page shows no publish date; the article (26 May 2026) announces it as already published. No itch.io rating is shown. No calls to AI services were found in the game file.

Development history

  1. The developer publishes an article on Zenn about building the game with Claude Code and announces it on itch.io.
