About Roomba Rights of SPLORR!!

A short turn-based puzzle game. You are a cat in a house full of places to nap, and the house also has a robot vacuum. Nothing happens until you move, and then the vacuum moves two tiles for every one of yours along a route you cannot see; the route never changes, so you learn it by watching. Bumping a wall keeps you in place and uses your turn, which is the only way to wait. To nap, you walk onto a nap spot (a sofa, a basket or a keyboard, each against a wall) and bump the wall three times in a row; nap in every spot to settle the house. There are five houses, and then they start over. Touching the vacuum costs a life: you start with three, can hold up to nine and earn one every 20 naps. Keys pressed while the vacuum is moving are remembered for your next turns. Arrow keys or WASD are the only input, with M added after the jam to switch the sound on and off. The developer, The Grumpy GameDev, says Claude Code (Claude Sonnet 5.5) wrote all of the game code, in Odin compiled to WebAssembly, along with the level layouts, sound effects and tests, and that the developer wrote no code. Made for Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1 (theme Cat and Robot), where it ranked 31st of 36. Free in the browser on itch.io, with the source on GitHub.

How it was built

Partially verified

The itch.io page's AI use section: “Built with Claude Code (Claude Sonnet 5.5). The AI wrote all the game code (Odin, compiled to WebAssembly), the web wrapper, the build setup, the five level layouts, the cover image generator and the sound effects”, the sound effects being short PLAY-text melodies made in the Anvil of SPLORR!!, an asset tool made with the same AI. It also wrote the tests, including a solver that checks every level can be cleared without being caught. The developer describes the role as product owner: choosing the concept, making the design decisions together with the AI and playtesting every build; “I wrote no code.”

Supporting evidence
Development approach

Made for Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1. Claude Code wrote the game in Odin, compiled to WebAssembly and drawn on an HTML5 canvas, plus the web wrapper, the build setup, the five houses, a cover image generator, the sound effects and a solver test; the developer made the design decisions with the AI and playtested. The art is the Urizen 1-bit tileset by vurmux (CC0). No AI runs in the game.

“I was the product owner: I chose the concept, made the design decisions together with the AI (the 2-tile vacuum, the hidden route, the lives and levels, the look of each house) and playtested every build as QA. I wrote no code.”

Verification notes: AI use from the itch.io page's AI use section, the developer's answer on the official Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1 submission page and the repository README (read through raw.githubusercontent.com; the GitHub web page did not load here), all re-read on 6 Nov 2026. The 100% AI code share reflects “I wrote no code”; the model is quoted as the developer writes it. The jam's own rule (“AI must be part of the build”) is not code-specific. The page says “Team: solo developer plus AI”, so team size is recorded as one. Same developer as Torch Passers of SPLORR!! and Robokitteh of SPLORR!! (X handle @TheGrumpyGameD1 on the jam page; GitHub account playdeezgames). The itch.io page shows no publication date; the release date is taken from the submission page, which said it was submitted 4 days and 20 hours before the 9 Oct, 07:00 UTC deadline, i.e. on 4 Oct 2026 (UTC). The page was updated on 1 Nov 2026 (10:36 UTC) with a devlog post on sound, a mute key and a footer, and links a “latest version” at playdeezgames.github.io/tggd_jamference2, which responded on 6 Nov 2026. Jam results (9 ratings): 31st overall of 36 (2.144), 30th in Fun and Polish, 31st in Use of AI. The web build (index.html, odin.js, game.wasm) was checked and makes no calls to AI services. itch.io shows no public rating and no download count. The game was not played.
