About Robokitteh of SPLORR!!

A short turn-based puzzle game. You are a robot in a blue room with cats in it and a door in the wall, and your job is to get every cat out through the door; the cats do not know this and would not care if they did. Nothing happens until you move, and every move costs battery. You recharge by bumping into a solar terminal, which refills slowly, so it can be drained. You can push barrels, which cost extra battery to shove but block the cats. The cats wander at random and some just sit down; when one finds the door it leaves, and the door moves. Get them all out to clear the level, and the next level has more cats. At 0% battery you are, in the game's words, a very expensive paperweight. Arrow keys or WASD are the only input. The developer, The Grumpy GameDev, says Claude Code (Claude Sonnet 5.5) wrote the game code, in Odin compiled to WebAssembly, the web wrapper and the build setup, while the design direction, theme and art selection were the developer's, and that the whole build was streamed. Made for Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1 (theme Cat and Robot), where it ranked 28th of 36. Free in the browser on itch.io, with the source on GitHub.

How it was built

Partially verified

The itch.io page's AI use section: “Designed in conversation with Claude Code (Claude Sonnet 5.5), which wrote the game code (Odin, compiled to WebAssembly), the web wrapper and the build setup. Design direction, theme and art selection were mine.” The jam answer reads: “I used Claude to write the code. I streamed the whole thing.”

Supporting evidence
Development approach

Made for Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1. Claude Code wrote the game in Odin, compiled to WebAssembly with Odin's own JavaScript runtime and drawn through a small 2D canvas layer (the README says WebGL was tried first and dropped because some browsers could not create a context), plus the web wrapper and build setup; the developer directed the design and chose the art. The sprites are from the Urizen 1-bit tileset by vurmux (CC0). No AI runs in the game.

Verification notes: AI use from the itch.io page's AI use section, the developer's answer on the official Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1 submission page and the repository README (read through raw.githubusercontent.com; the GitHub web page did not load here), all re-read on 6 Nov 2026. The sources say Claude Code wrote the game code but give no share, so no AI code share is recorded; the model is quoted as the developer writes it. The jam's own rule (“AI must be part of the build”) is not code-specific. The page says “Team: solo developer plus AI”, so team size is recorded as one. Same developer as Torch Passers of SPLORR!! and Roomba Rights of SPLORR!!; both Jamference entries were submitted 4 days and 20 hours before the 9 Oct, 07:00 UTC deadline, i.e. on 4 Oct 2026 (UTC), and the itch.io page shows no publication or update date. The README's status section still describes an earlier working prototype (no on-screen text, sound or game-over screen), while the README's rules section and the itch.io page describe the jam version; the itch.io page is followed here. Jam results (10 ratings): 28th overall of 36 (2.606), 28th in Polish and Use of AI, 31st in Fun. The web build (index.html, odin.js, game.wasm) was checked and makes no calls to AI services. itch.io shows no public rating and no download count. The game was not played.

Development history

  1. Submitted to Jamference: AI Game Jam Hack 1 (theme Cat and Robot, restriction Movement Input Only), 4 days and 20 hours before the deadline.

  2. Voting closes: 28th overall of 36 entries (10 ratings).
