About ECHO-9
A two-device adventure game in the browser. It is 2055 in Hanoi, Vietnam, the power grid is out, and you are a delivery courier running packages on foot while dodging thousands of scooters. You steer the courier with WASD on a desktop or laptop, while your phone becomes the controller for everything else: the page calls it “the map, the flashlight, the balance sensor in your pocket”, and the submission adds buttons, the mission briefing and the accelerometer; the game even complains if you put the phone down on the table. Finished runs can be posted to a leaderboard. The entrant says the inspiration was Another World (1991), a childhood favourite whose mood they wanted to recreate in 3D, with the phone added for something new. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Claude Code as the tool. It finished 85th of 945 entries. Free; it needs a computer browser plus a phone, and opening it on a phone alone only shows instructions.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. Neither the game page nor the developer's homepage mentions AI, and no devlog describes how Claude Code was used or which model ran it. The submission covers the jam version only.
- OfficialJam rule 3: at least 90% of the code has to be written by AI. — Vibe Jam (Pieter Levels)
Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 on Three.js, with Claude Code named as the tool. The desktop game and the phone controller are separate parts of the same site; the phone joins a session code and talks to the desktop through a relay on the game's own server.

“Another world game (1991), I loved that game as a kid, trying to recreate the same vibe but in 3D. Then I wanted to add some novelty by using the phone together with the desktop for an immersive experience.”Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine, genre, pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer (No), mobile and portal (No) flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data, where the game is listed as “Echo-9” (submitted 27 Apr 2026, 03:37 UTC; final rank 85 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. Developer: the jam data gives the X handle tonnoz (display name Tonino Catapano (tonnoz), location Amsterdam / Southeast Asia), which links tonnoz.com; that homepage, headed Tonino Catapano, “indie hacker, freelance software engineer”, Amsterdam, lists and links the game. Team size is not stated. The 2055 Hanoi setting and the phone's roles come from the page's description and the submission; the phone-only instruction screen, the leaderboard and the in-game lines come from the game's scripts. Another World is named by the entrant as inspiration only; no names or assets from it were found. The game's scripts talk only to its own relay and the jam widget, plus Simple Analytics and a Ko-fi link on the page; no calls to AI services were found. The jam page's widget counter showed 332 plays for echo9.tonnoz.com on 4 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as a metric). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 27 Apr 2026 (UTC).
