About Waifu Mercs
A third-person zombie shooter in the browser with anime-style heroines. You pick a character, each with her own weapons and a timed special ability, and play missions across ruined downtown streets, a mansion and a school: survive the timer, clear every zombie or reach the end. Raid, Survival and Arcade modes are on the menu; kills fill a level-up bar that offers a choice of upgrade cards, dazed zombies can be finished with a melee hit, and you heal by eating turkey. Encores earned in missions buy character upgrades in a shop, and harder Scarlet Night versions of stages are available. With two gamepads connected, Raid mode offers local split-screen co-op. The entrant pitches it as “Resident Evil meets Vampire Survivors” and says it was made as a split-screen game to play together at home. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the submission lists Claude Code as the tool. It finished 36th of 945 entries. Free, for desktop browsers with keyboard and mouse or gamepads.
How it was built
VerifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. No devlog describes how Claude Code was used or which model ran it, and the submission covers the jam version only. Who made the character art and 3D models is not stated.

“I love split screen games but so few are coming out! I love Resident Evil and Vampire survivors I thought let's make a fun split screen game I can play with my wife”Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine, genre, pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer, mobile and portal flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 29 Apr 2026, 15:47 UTC; final rank 36 of 945 entries, no award); rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. The entrant marks the game as not mobile-ready. Gameplay facts come from the game's menus, How to Play page and code. The multiplayer is local split-screen co-op with two gamepads in Raid mode, per the How to Play page; the character-select screen also labels a real-time upgrade mode as “required for co-op (coming soon!)”. The game page names no developer and no developer-owned page was found that links the game: the name comes from the X profile @SuperJonBear given in the jam data (display name Jon Bear, bio “Dad & dev”, location Iceland). Team size is not stated. Resident Evil and Vampire Survivors are named only as inspiration; no names or assets from either were seen in the game. The two selectable heroines are Asuka (bio “Ex-pop icon. Considers Rei her older sister.”) and Rei (bio “Gitarist for Asuka”); no names, logos or text from other anime were found with them. Both are shown armed and fully clothed in the character art we checked; no sexual content was found and no age rating is given, so no maturity notice is recorded. The game's script was checked on 4 Nov 2026 and makes no calls to AI services. The jam page's widget counters showed 245 plays and 186 portal transfers for waifumercs.com on 4 Nov 2026 (observed; sessions, not players or downloads, so not recorded as metrics). The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 29 Apr 2026.
