About Air Honcho
Air Honcho is a free, open-source airline management game for the browser in which one turn is one quarter. You pick a home city, buy or lease aircraft, price and open routes between cities, assign planes, set a pricing posture and close the books. Frequency comes from each aircraft's speed, range and turnaround, so an oversized jet on a thin route flies half-empty; rival carriers split the demand on shared routes; fuel prices wander and can be hedged; technology, maintenance by airframe age and lease-or-buy decisions matter over the long run. Your score is your market cap: you can borrow, issue shares, buy stakes in rivals and take them over, and a much larger rival can take you over if your share price collapses. Present day starts in 2026 and runs 25 years; History, 2000 runs 50 years through real shocks on their real dates, including the dot-com recession, 9/11, SARS, the 2008 crash, the ash cloud and COVID, with aircraft arriving on their historical launch dates. The aircraft have invented names but are modelled on real types' published figures. Games save to named slots, and a seed link shares the exact game. The README says it was built with Claude Code, working from a design brief in CLAUDE.md. In English, for wide screens.
How it was built
Partially verifiedThe README's “Built with Claude Code” section says the game was built with Claude Code, working from the design brief in CLAUDE.md, which sits at the repository root and is treated as the source of truth; DECISIONS.md records what was decided along the way, including things that were tried, measured and thrown out. The README does not say how much of the code Claude Code wrote.
Built with Claude Code from a CLAUDE.md design brief, per the README. A pure, deterministic TypeScript simulation (seeded random numbers, no Math.random or Date.now, enforced by a purity test) with turn resolution, gravity-model demand, an event deck, a technology tree and rival AI archetypes, under a UI layer that only renders and dispatches actions. A headless simulator runs full games for balance tuning, and CI runs 20 all-AI games over 25 years. No runtime dependencies; map geometry from Natural Earth (public domain); deployed as static files on Cloudflare.

“This game was built with Claude Code, working from the design brief in CLAUDE.md — which is why that file sits at the repository root and is treated as the source of truth.”Verification notes: Gameplay, stack, licence (MIT, © 2026 Matt Cone) and the AI statement come from the repository README, read through raw.githubusercontent.com on 6 Nov 2026. “Built with Claude Code” is the README's own wording; it gives no code share. The README compares the game to Railroad Tycoon and Aerobiz (“in the spirit of”); the aircraft names are invented and the README says nothing is affiliated with any real airline or manufacturer. The game page loaded on 6 Nov 2026 (html lang en); its scripts make no calls to AI services, and the rival carriers are scripted archetypes. No release date is given and repository dates were not checked (the GitHub API was not reachable from our checker). Team size and location are not stated. The game was not played.

Each figure measures something different — concurrent players, owners, downloads and sales are never interchangeable and are never added together. Labels show where each number comes from.
