Run a Japanese town's traffic lights as its traffic-control AI for one week, and answer a request each day that has no right answer. The README says Claude Code built it.

About シグナル・ジレンマ
シグナル・ジレンマ (SIGNAL DILEMMA) is a free 3D traffic simulation game for the browser. You are MICHI, a city's traffic-control AI, switching which direction gets green at the intersections of a small diorama town with left-hand traffic, horizontal traffic lights and utility poles, to keep cars, buses and pedestrians moving. Each switch passes through amber and all-red, so it takes a few seconds; drivers and pedestrians kept waiting lower a satisfaction meter, and if it reaches zero the AI is shut down. From Monday to Friday the town grows from one intersection to nine, with a rainy day, a crash and a fireworks night with a scramble crossing; ambulances and fire engines follow red dotted routes you can clear ahead of time, and pedestrians who wait too long cross on red. Each day also brings a request with no right answer, such as a cat asleep in the crossing, a company offering money for green lights, a police officer asking for camera feeds without a warrant, the mayor's motorcade or a crash log you could quietly edit; your answers shift four values (compassion, fairness, honesty and efficiency) and lead to one of eight endings. Between days you can buy upgrades such as vehicle sensors, and when you retry a day after a shutdown you can spend budget on TSUJI, a helper AI that takes over one intersection. It plays with mouse, keyboard, gamepad or touch, in Japanese or English. MICHI and TSUJI are characters run by the game's own rules, not by an AI service. The README credits planning and direction to the developer, たぬ (tanuu5), and development to Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5, reasoning level MAX). Buildings, vehicles, signals, music and sound effects are all generated in code, with no image or audio files. Free on the developer's GitHub Pages site; the code is MIT-licensed.
How it was built
VerifiedThe README credits planning and direction to たぬ and development to Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5, reasoning level MAX), and says Claude carried the game from design through implementation and testing, based on たぬ's plan. The traffic simulation (car following, waiting to turn right, giving way to ambulances, pedestrians crossing) was built first, separately from the rendering, and run in Node alone to check repeatedly, with different maps and signal controls, that cars never overlap, never get stuck and never produce NaN values. An automatic pilot also played all five days to confirm that the endings branch by choice and that leaving the town alone gets the AI shut down. たぬ played the game and decided whether to publish it. In a note post the developer says that apart from 狐火かぐら, the games in that batch took only a few exchanges, mostly bug reports.
- DeveloperDeveloper's note post of 24 Oct 2026: eight browser works, シグナル・ジレンマ among them, were made with Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) and published on GitHub between 9 and 23 Oct 2026. — note (たぬ / tank_ai)
Directed by one developer, with Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5, MAX) doing design, code and testing. Built with three.js and Vite and published to GitHub Pages by GitHub Actions. Per the README, the traffic simulation (road network, signals, cars and pedestrians) is kept separate from the three.js view and can be run headless in Node with a test script; the five-day script, the dilemmas, the endings and the upgrades live in their own campaign module, the sound is synthesised with Web Audio, and Japanese and English text come from dictionaries. The game uses no image or audio files and loads no external fonts.

Verification notes: AI use, features, controls, tech stack, languages, licence (MIT) and release date (2026-10-10, v1.0.0, from the README's update history) come from the developer's repository README, read through raw.githubusercontent.com on 5 Nov 2026; the README links the play address, which loaded that day. The remark about a few exchanges and bug reports comes from the note post of 24 Oct 2026, which also says the games in that batch support touch controls on smartphones. The player character and the helper AI are fiction driven by the game's own code; the bundled script contacts no AI services. The town, companies and people are fictional, per the README. The repository's stars and commit history were not checked (github.com was not reachable from our checker). Team size and location are not stated.
Development history
Published in the browser as v1.0.0, per the README's update history.
DeveloperGitHubv1.1.0 adds TSUJI, a helper AI you can call when retrying a day; the same day v1.0.1 to v1.1.2 fix two-finger rotation on phones, lower the rain sound on Wednesday and make the fast-forward state clearer on phones.
DeveloperGitHubv1.1.3: each day's best grade is no longer lost when the page is reloaded.
