About Banished
A six-degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) arena shooter in the browser, built on PlayCanvas. The game's own blurb sets it in a future where some people illegally alter robots to do their bidding, and lawful mercenaries are sent to eliminate these modders and bring order to their chaos. The entrant pitches it as a 6DoF arena shooter with generated art, sound and music, with levels built in Half-Life 2's Hammer level editor, and names Forsaken 64 as the inspiration. The game's scripts include peer-to-peer multiplayer through PeerJS, bot players and weapons such as Gatling, Rockets, Pulsar, Spearhead, Mine and Nuke. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission, made by SM Sith Lord under the X account of Anarchy Arcade, lists Claude Code as the tool and says the game works on phones and in multiplayer. It finished 56th of 945 entries. Free in the browser on the developer's own domain.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field, and pitches the game as having generated art, sound and music. The game itself does not mention AI, and we found no developer write-up that says how Claude Code was used, which model ran it or which tools made the art and audio. The submission covers the jam version only.
- OfficialJam rule 3: at least 90% of the code has to be written by AI. — Vibe Jam (Pieter Levels)
Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 on PlayCanvas, with Claude Code named as the tool; per the entrant, the levels were built in Half-Life 2's Hammer level editor, and the game's scripts convert Hammer map coordinates into PlayCanvas space. Multiplayer runs peer to peer through PeerJS. The entrant says the art, sound and music were generated, without naming the tools.

“6 DoF arena shooter w/ generated art, sound, & music. Built with HL2's Hammer level editor.”Verification notes: Tool (Claude Code), engine (PlayCanvas), genre (Shooter), pitch, inspiration and the multiplayer (Yes), mobile (Yes) and portal (Yes) flags from the entrant's answers in the official Vibe Jam 2026 games data (submitted 29 Apr 2026, 23:24 UTC; final rank 56 of 945 entries, no award), re-read on 4 Nov 2026; rule 3 on the jam page requires at least 90% AI-written code. Developer: the jam data gives the X handle AnarchyArcade, whose profile (display name Anarchy Arcade, website anarchyarcade.com) ends its bio with “- SM Sith Lord”; the game runs on banished.smsithlord.com, and smsithlord.com links the same X account. No real name or team size is given; the X profile's location is not recorded. The setting comes from the game page's description; weapons, bots and PeerJS multiplayer from the game's scripts (__game-scripts.js); the game was not played. Forsaken 64 is named by the entrant as inspiration, and a Shmotime Studios episode page linked from the game's scripts describes the game as a “Forsaken 64 clone”; no Forsaken names or assets were found in the game's scripts, so no IP notice is attached. That episode's body was not readable and Shmotime's relation to the developer is not confirmed. Hammer is Valve's level editor, used here as a tool. The game's scripts were checked for calls to AI services and none were found. The release date is not stated; the jam submission is dated 29 Apr 2026. Other games named Banished are unrelated; the slug includes “vibe-jam” to tell them apart.
