About Lythravel
Lythravel is a free 3D voxel MMORPG that runs in a desktop browser tab, with no download and no launcher, and you do not even need an email address to register. At launch in August 2026 the developer listed six classes, two continents, levels 1 to 50, dungeons, a 12-player raid, world bosses and 10-against-10 battlegrounds; by October the list also included two factions, solo variants of dungeons, open-world PvP, crafting and mounts, with no pay-to-win. Later updates added an out-of-combat sprint, more gear for every class at levels 1 to 10, strafing while the camera looks ahead and loot tooltips. The developer says it is heavily inspired by old-school MMOs, especially Shaiya. The developer built it alone and says they wrote none of the code: Claude Code did, over about six weeks of daily sessions before launch, with Babylon.js as the engine. To keep a project of that size coherent, every session reads one design document in the repository, every architectural decision is written down as a numbered file (194 by launch), and nothing counts as done until scripted bot clients play it over the real network protocol, such as levelling from 1 to 50, a 20-bot PvP match and six bots clearing a dungeon. The developer says the AI failed most at anything judged by eye, such as a scene setting that kept the world at 20 frames per second for weeks.
How it was built
Partially verifiedIn a post on r/aigamedev titled “Six weeks, one person, zero hand-written code — my browser MMORPG is live” (15 Aug 2026, UTC) the developer writes: “It went live yesterday, it's free, and I didn't write the code. Claude Code did, over about six weeks of daily sessions.” Three things kept the project from turning to mush, per the post: one design document in the repository that every session reads first and that wins any disagreement; every architectural decision recorded as a numbered file (194 at the time), because “the repo has to be the memory”; and scripted bot clients that play over the real network protocol and print PASS or FAIL. The developer says the AI consistently failed at anything you judge with your eyes. No model is named.
- DeveloperSecond post (19 Oct 2026): “I'm developing everything solo with Claude Code, using Babylon.js as the game engine. Most of my time goes into testing, tweaking things and trying to make the game feel and look the way I want it to.” — Reddit (u/Big-Sandwich733)
Per the developer, one person directing Claude Code in daily sessions on Babylon.js, with no hand-written code. A single design document in the repository is read by every session and overrides the session when they disagree; architectural decisions are kept as numbered files; and features count as done only when scripted bot clients pass end-to-end tests over the real network protocol (levelling 1 to 50, a 20-bot PvP match, six bots clearing a dungeon). Visual problems were the weak spot: the world ran at 20 FPS for weeks because animating one Babylon scene setting marked every material dirty each frame, which nothing in the code showed and only playing revealed.

“It went live yesterday, it's free, and I didn't write the code. Claude Code did, over about six weeks of daily sessions.”Verification notes: The Claude Code claim comes from the developer's two posts on r/aigamedev by u/Big-Sandwich733 (15 Aug 2026, 12:41 UTC, and 19 Oct 2026, 15:34 UTC), read from the Arctic Shift Reddit archive; both link lythravel.com. The 100% AI code share reflects “zero hand-written code” and “I didn't write the code. Claude Code did”. The release date is the day before the launch post, which says the game “went live yesterday”. Features come from the two posts; the site (checked 4 Nov 2026) showed only its loader page and title (“a 3D voxel MMORPG in your browser”) to us, and we did not register or play, so the in-game content and whether any optional purchases exist were not checked. Shaiya is named by the developer as inspiration only; no Shaiya names or assets are mentioned. The site's main script contains no calls to AI services. The posts link a Discord server for players. Location is not stated.
