About Reeta

A short 3D action game in the browser, set in one bedroom over one night. You play a grandson protecting his grandmother Reeta, who has Alzheimer's, from demons that close in on her bed; the entrant's pitch is to survive until sunrise to help her remember. The night runs through eight phases, from Dusk and the Witching Hour to a boss phase called The Forgetting, Pre-Dawn, First Light and Sunrise, and the demons come faster as it goes on. You move with WASD, aim with the mouse, swing with the left button and fire arrows with F (the hints say the sneaky demons need arrows), and as you play you unlock weapon and armour upgrades and three powers on the 1, 2 and 3 keys, Candle, Lantern and Sun Burst, each with a cooldown. You have three revives. On Restless Night a second character, Barinton, points a beam at the nearest demon; Long Night has no guide. A win ends with “She woke. She remembered your name today.” and the dedication “For Reeta and Barinton. For everyone who stays.” The entrant writes that their grandmother Reeta has Alzheimer's and that they wanted to turn the feeling of watching someone's mind fight itself into a game. It was made for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026, whose rules required at least 90% of each game's code to be written by AI; the official submission lists Claude Code as the tool, and it finished 693rd of 945 entries. Free in the browser, played with keyboard and mouse.

How it was built

Partially verified

In the official Vibe Jam 2026 submission the entrant lists Claude Code as the tool and answers Yes to the AI-written field. Supporting evidence
Development approach

Built for the Cursor Vibe Jam 2026 on Three.js (loaded from a CDN) with Claude Code named as the tool. The game is plain JavaScript split into nine scripts (house, characters, controls, lighting, interface, audio, combat, upgrades and the game loop), with the music, sound effects and character voices loaded as audio files. High scores, the best phase reached and wins are saved in the browser.
